To The Daily: Only in America can someone be sued by illegal aliens for defending his property from invasion and destruction, as recently happened in Arizona.

While Americans living in border states battle for preservation of their property, our new president and Congress, like our previous administration, seemingly refuse to acknowledge that illegal immigration is destroying our country.

Sadly, legal immigrants from Mexico who play by the rules and assimilate are misjudged because of the actions and lifestyles of many of their illegal countrymen. Thanks to rampant illegal immigration, upwards of 75 percent of which is from Mexico, the general public now equates “Hispanic” and Spanish-speaking with uneducated, illiterate, unassimilated and illegal, although all but a few of the illegal aliens from Mexico are indigenous Latinos with little, if any, Spanish ancestry.

Many low-wage employers no longer look at hiring Americans when they can hire illegal aliens for half the price and pay cash. Elected officials ignore this despicable practice. Employers assert that Americans won’t do the kind of work illegal aliens will do, which is untrue.

American workers have done those same jobs for decades; they just refuse to be exploited. Adding insult to injury, if illegal aliens have fake identification, employers feign ignorance of immigration status if caught hiring illegal workers.

The saddest part, perhaps, is that many new jobs our president plans to create will likely be filled by illegal aliens because illegal alien support groups have already put a bug in President Barack Obama’s ear that they will scream “discrimination” if illegal aliens aren’t considered.

If illegal immigration is addressed, our country will save not only countless millions of dollars and see overall quality of life improve for both native-born Americans and legal immigrants, but also the most important thing will be saved: our sovereignty.
