LACEY’S SPRING — A Somerville man died after hitting a line of trees in a one-car accident in East Morgan County early Saturday.

Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard said he pronounced William Truss, 25, dead at 3:45 a.m.

Truss’ father, Lennie Truss, told The Daily that his son worked at Watson Mini Storage in Decatur. He had a wife and four children.

The accident occurred at 1:50 a.m. one-half mile north of Lacey’s Spring on Northeast Fields Road, according to state troopers.

Beard said Truss apparently lost control of his car. He was likely killed upon impact, Beard said.

“I think he was going to a cousin’s home on that road,” Beard said.

Truss had no passengers. Troopers said he was not wearing a safety belt.

Beard said it’s unknown whether alcohol was involved, but toxicology samples were sent to a forensic laboratory for testing.
