LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Roy Moore more than one-issue candidate
To The Daily: With all due respect, I take issue with The Decatur Daily’s politically liberal view that Roy Moore is a one-issue candidate for governor. In fact, Roy Moore is the strongest conservative in the race who will deal with both fiscal and social issues with proven conservative principles to help get government out of people’s lives. What you have seen out of Moore in the past is what you will see out of him in the future, and that is a strong leader with the experience, strength of character, the intellect and compassion to deal with the wide range of challenges we face in Alabama. Among his credentials are his business qualifications, which include his running the Alabama court system with a budget that is equivalent to that of a large business, his leading soldiers in combat in Vietnam and his experience as an attorney and judge. The same intangible that marked his constitutional stand for a public official’s right and duty to acknowledge God is what this state and this country needs in this troubled time. That is something called leadership, a commodity that people talk about, but few can provide unless they have been tested and proven the way Moore has. He is well known and is highly regarded around the country as well as in our own state for his stand for acknowledging God, and this is good thing. Last week, he was on national TV on Fox and Friends and came across as a great representative of Alabama. Moore is far more than a one-issue candidate. James R. Henderson

Interesting. Mr. Henderson's lead statement wants us to believe that Mr. Moore is not a one issue candidate, yet he spends almost half of his letter promoting the one issue that is his claim to fame.
Bill is entirely correct. Roy Moore is a "one issue" candidate who is NOT highly regarded throughout the country. The Bush's shunned him at an Inauguration dinner in 2004. Bush claimed to be a religious candidate yet kept Moore at arm's length. Moore has selected a wedge issue to excite the voting public and continues to do so. Our Founding Fathers addressed this issue and it should be settled.
