LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Spreading the Gospel to non-Christians an act of love, not disrespectful

To The Daily: The Rev. James Evans imagines it a great day for our country. He does so because a Christian minister will be addressing a Muslim gathering without mentioning the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Evans supposes this shows how far our country has come. If true, it is a sign of how far our leaders have fallen.

Evans imagines that telling the gospel of Jesus Christ to members of another religion is unkind and disrespectful. From his perspective, I suppose it is.

Unless you believe that Acts 17:30-31 is God’s message for other religions, you will follow the same apostasy. If Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God, then telling others is the ultimate act of love toward them.

Evans states rightly that our country has become a refuge for many nationalities. He supposes that telling our new neighbors that Christ died on the cross of Calvary for the sins of the world is rude. He is wrong.

It is necessary to obey the law of love found in Romans 13:9. How can that be done without proclaiming the love of God toward man, through the blood of Jesus Christ?

My (and Evans’) forefathers were heathens and worshipped gods they themselves invented. Someone had the courage to bring them the message of a Jewish carpenter who came to save whosoever would believe. I thank God for those messengers. It is my hope to have the same courage and the same love.
