Smoking ban makes Decatur an attractive dining destination
To The Daily: Maybe I was disappointed to see the issue of Decatur’s ban on smoking in public places will be revisited. My wife and I have eaten at Decatur restaurants on a more regular basis since the ban was implemented. We’ve also been able to visit some restaurants that we avoided in the pre-ban years. Why fight that battle again? Florence has just implemented a smoking ban, so if Decatur regresses, I guess we’ll head west. Luke Slaton Moulton

What I would like it to see a city-wide VOTE on this. We voted on whether to serve alchohol in our city or not, why not the smoking ordinance? Oh, right, because it might LOSE and they wanted it their way.
Speaking for myself, sitting next to a table with a smoker is not worse (and in some ways better) than sitting next to someone who BATHED in their perfume or cologne. At least you can fan the smoke away.
My husband is so alergic to perfume he does not go out to public places, he can not go out to eat it would cost him doctor bills and prescriptions but he is not bothered by cigarrette smoke, you are all a bunch of whining weaklings who are afraid to fight for your rights. How many men have died in vain as they fought for your rights in some war, the least you can do is carry the battle on here, not with weapons or foul language but with integrity and honor as they did. Why do you allow a bunch of imbeciles to run your town or your county without fighting back for what is yours. This country is no longer a government of the people, by the people or for the people, want to know why because you are all cowards you are deserters who sit on your hind ends and cry and whine about the injustice and run like scared rabbits when they holler boo. Further more every one I know that has died with lung cancer or emhysema were smokers. You people are so selfish and maybe that is why you do not have good leadership in your community, you people are all talk and no action, maybe you all need to move to the nearest chicken farm. Set the people free and give them their rights back. Let the people vote, oh thats right you would be out voted and not only are you weaklings scared but you can not stand justice , as you do not know right from wrong. Any man or woman that fought for my rights deserves to smoke if they want too and you cowards have no right to deny them this right, What would you call them if they refused to fight for this country? A deserter well what are you?
to risky being in decatur, cant go to the bank without getting robbed, cant drive on the beltline because of the reckless texters, or the radar traps, or the potholes. dodging the orange cones can be a nightmare at times. and.......while your there they might just pass a law against driving a "womans" car.
Arvin, you are for sex predators and for smoking and what is up with chicken farms? Please tell us more I love to hear from Falkville.
Bubba
When this become about the right to smoke? And what war has ever been fought for the freedom to smoke in public places? And what does chicken farms and perfume have to do with the issue at hand? And Falkville, are you for or against public smoking? Your rambling has me confused.
you have the right to smoke, or not to smoke. you have the right to choose to go in or not go in a smoking privately owned business.
thie busness owner has a right to determine whether to allow or not to allow smoking in their privately own business.
what part of this do you not understand?
