Limestone County Commission
ATHENS — The Limestone County Commission took the following action Monday: Moved the Nov. 11 work session to Nov. 13 because of offices being closed for Veterans Day. Applied for a $50,000 grant from the Alabama Public Library Service for construction, planning and renovation costs related to moving the Athens-Limestone Public Library’s location to the former Kroger building on Jefferson Street. County match would be $15,000.
Amended a portion of the memorandum of understanding between the Mental Health Center and Community Corrections to say clients without a third-party payer will be charged a discounted fee based on their income. Amended the District 4 budget by $215,000 from the public building fund for the Elk River Bridge project. Gulf Coast Contracting got the contract to make repairs to the bridge for $215,250. Accepted a bid from MC Contracting to demolish the old county jail for $166,330. Hired Jenny Easter, assessment clerk, Revenue Commissioner’s Office. Gave preliminary and final subdivision approval for Sunny Meadows Farms on Section Line Road to re-subdivide into 12 tracts. Authorized Chairman David Seibert to execute change orders, as necessary, from Cooper Construction for sewer, water, fire lines, brick work and steel support for heating and air conditioning for the event center. Announced the Christmas tree lighting will be Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. at the courthouse prior to the Christmas parade. HOLLY HOLLMAN
