A Hartselle woman was listed in fair condition at Huntsville Hospital on Sunday, after surviving a tumble from a moving vehicle.

According to Falkville Police Chief Chris Free, Christy Micheal Evans, 38, of 705 Mitwede St. S.W., Hartselle, was airlifted to Huntsville on Saturday night after she apparently jumped from a moving vehicle driven by her boyfriend. They were traveling down Main Street in Falkville.

Her injuries included scrapes and cuts to her face, arms, legs and stomach, he said.

The incident was apparently the result of a domestic dispute between Evans and her reported boyfriend, Jerry Martin Gray, 49, of 1511 East Lacon Road, Falkville, according to Free.

“They had both been drinking that day and got into an altercation,” he said.

Following the incident, Free said, Gray was arrested and charged with domestic violence and public intoxication. He remained in the Hartselle Jail as of 5:20 p.m. Sunday with bond set at $600.

Free corrected initial reports made Saturday that the individuals in the car were married and that they were both residents of Falkville.
