A truck driver was killed after his vehicle left Interstate 65 and landed in a ravine near the Lacon exit.

FALKVILLE — A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 65 today killed one person and closed the road for hours, authorities said.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said he could not release the name of the victim, the truck's male driver, pending notification of family members.

State troopers said the wreck took place at about 2:30 p.m. near the 319 mile marker, about a mile north of the Lacon exit.

The southbound tractor, pulling a flatbed loaded with lumber, apparently left the road, crashed through a metal guardrail and rolled down a wooded embankment to land upside down near Flint Creek.

Troopers said they were not aware of any other injuries or vehicles involved. The wreck remains under investigation.

Authorities shut down the southbound lanes of I-65 and rerouted traffic onto U.S. 31 via Morgan County 55 at Exit 322 in Falkville and Thompson Road at Exit 325 in Hartselle. Troopers said they expected I-65 South to remain closed until at least 6:30 p.m.

The Daily continues to report accidents at Mile Markers. Readers do not know where the MM are located. Please report the closest town or whatever where the accidents occurr.

Thanks

Jo Ann.

The article stated that the accident occurred one mile north of the Lacon exit at the 319 mile marker

Can you read or do you just want to gripe about the Daily? It says about a mile north of the Lacon exit ! If you don't like the Daily then don't read it !!!!!

As I read the many comments made from some readers, I find that reading comprehension is not a strong point with them.

It could be that the article was updated after her post. Just saying.

I know the mile markers... I thought everyone did....

The article gave the specific location when it was first posted.

Mile markers are the most accurate description of location. They leave little doubt!
