This was a good idea in 2008 and still is one today. Decatur holds many fishing tournaments and this will just help draw even more. Also it would be great if Decatur could actually start drawing shoppers from Huntsville for a change. Just like back then, Billy Jackson sounds like he is going to try to hamper the project as much as possible. He also sounds just like the same guy that opposed Mayor Kyle on just about everything Kyle tried to do during his first term.

If this beomes a reality, highway 20 will have to be widened to 4 lanes. Wonder if they will put widening Spring Road on back burner again.

When it comes to supporting Decatur, Billy is the "Merchant of Death". He has done nothing to improve his broke down, run down district and he never will unless there is something in it for him. He doesn't care about his district or Decatur. He single handedly killed development of that same property back in the mid-2000's over a back door buddy hiring deal for 2 unqualified fireman that did not get supported by other councilmen at that time. Grandstanding again. If he can kill the deal for a third time, you can guarantee he surely will. What would it take to change our election rules so that the city council positions are voted on by the entire city instead of districts? It's time to cut the dead weight.

It's all for me Billy again, I bet Cullman or Athens will be glad to step up. Funny how both towns are outgrowing Decatur. Coulod it be leadership?

Thank goodness Billy Jackson is on the job looking out for all the citizens of Decatur and our long term financial interest. Think of where the City would be now if the project hadn't been questioned and halted previously.

The City can't get alleys cleaned, leaves and garbage picked up on a timely basis. Streets are in bad shape and in need of major repair. City employees have problems with cost of living increases. Yet, the folks running the City are ready and willing to spend millions on a project across the river and put the citizens of Decatur in debt for years. If the project is so great, why did the promoters have problems getting financing and major business that would locate in the facilities.

Watch where the money flows and I think you will find the reason for this project. Decatur's citizens will pay a big price if this projected project becomes reality and goes bust??

Oh Yes, praise the almighty Billy. He will save us from progress and growth just like Obama has saved us. Maybe he should be the next President or Pope. Athens, Hartselle or Huntsville will land this development instead. We don't need the jobs or revenue. I like driving to Huntsville to spend my money. Billy will support us just like he supports his district.

We must move quickly and avoid losing this huge opportunity to Athens, Huntsville, Hartselle, Cullman, Pulaski or Priceville.

They are already in a bidding war. We don't need to lose this huge opportunity due to perceived financial risk..

Decatur elected official should study what is going on to our West. Muscle Shoals seems to be run much better than Decatur. Elected officials that actually care.

MUSCLE SHOALS — When Mayor David Bradford envisions driving down Wilson Dam Road in 2025, he sees signs of progress on every corner.

"There will be a nice steakhouse over here and another sit-down restaurant over there," said Bradford, who has been mayor of Muscle Shoals since 2000. "There will be clothing stores, a couple of hotels, a church or two, a shopping center, banks, pharmacies, office buildings and maybe a grocery store."

For Bradford and other city officials, it's a vision they have been working on for more than a decade.

The city has embraced the potential for retail and commercial growth along the Wilson Dam Road corridor since before the Singing River Bridge was opened. They have worked with the Economic Development Administration, state transportation officials and other agencies to develop a plan to control the growth.

"You want growth and a highway system that can move traffic easier and more safely," Bradford said. "We can have both with proper planning and a commitment to doing it the right way."

To me it's pretty obvious why they didn't include Billy in discussions. These are supposed to be kept out of the press and kept quiet. this article right here is pretty clear that Billy can't keep his mouth shut.

Billy Jackson doesn't support anything, the most negative guy I know other than "NO" Brooks.

The reason it died before was because the economy tanked and that's all. Our previous mayor was too stupid to restart the talks as the economy recovered.

I beleive this project will put Decatur on the road to prosperity and change.
