Investigators arrested two Hartselle men today in the Sept. 24 robbery of the Interstate Shell gas station, Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said.

Franklin said surveillance video collected from other businesses near the crime scene helped investigators identify the white sport utility vehicle in which the suspected robber and his lookout fled. They even got footage of the suspected robber without his mask on, she said.

Garrett Ashton Baldwin, 20, of 609 Corsbie St. S.W. was wearing a T-shirt with eye holes cut in it as a mask when he entered the convenience store on Alabama 36 at I-65 shortly after midnight, said Sgt. Terry Kelly of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Baldwin allegedly brandished a knife, demanded money from the woman working behind the register, and left the store with about $1,000 in cash.

Demetrius Dushawn Johnson, 17, of 603 Pennylane St. S.E., acted as a lookout, Kelly said.

Investigators questioned Baldwin this morning and subsequently charged Baldwin and Johnson each with one count of first-degree robbery. Johnson was charged as an adult.

They were being held in Morgan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each.
