2013 BBQ Battle: Email us to help fill out the bracket
By Catherine Godbey
The Decatur Daily

Who serves the best barbecue in Morgan, Lawrence and Limestone counties? You tell us.

In a nod to the Year of Alabama Food, BBQ and the NCAA basketball tournament, the Decatur Daily will create a bracket pitting nationally recognized restaurants next to mom-and-pop eateries and have a playoff.

We need your help in creating the bracket. Send in your suggestions for the best barbecue restaurant to cgodbey@decaturdaily.com. YOU MUST NOMINATE BY EMAIL. THANKS.

Does Big Bob Gibson’s white sauce and chicken make your mouth water? Is the smell of a Whitt’s pork sandwich too tempting to ignore? Can the sight of 306 BBQ instantly negate a diet? What about B.B. Perrins, Smokey C’s, LawLers and Dirt Road BBQ?

Let the battle begin.

No bracket needed: Whitt's for the Value & Bob Gibson's Danville Rd for the taste!

Whitt's has the best BBQ with out a doubt.

Definitely Whitt's! I've tried to love Bob Gibson's but it's just not as tasty or consistent.

Chief and Snoogies Hickory Pitt/East Lawrence

Red's in Somerville

John's BBQ in Moulton!!

Whitt's hands down. Gibson doesn't serve what they win contests and show on TV. There is a lace north of Athens. Not sure what it's called. Turn off 31 at the CVS and go a few miles. It is good also

Whitt's!

Reds soerville

THere is no better BBQ in North Alabama than Chief and Snoogies

with texas bbq place on 6 th ave closed, Gibson Danville rd is the best, then bb perrins, jack nation has the best bbq butts and sells them for 30.00

Whitt's! Their pork sandwhich is perfect!

Hickory Stick beats 'em all.
