Austin girls top Northridge; Priceville shuts out Tanner

Courtney McClesky pitched a complete game, scattering 11 hits as Austin defeated Northridge 8-3.

The Black Bears (8-7-1) scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.

Aleah Garth finished with an RBI double and a single, while Sydney Dishman hit a two RBI double.

Abbey Claborn hit three singles with two RBIs and Mallory Malone added three singles.

Priceville 8, Tanner 0: Erin Hayes got the pitching win, striking out three and allowing two hits through four innings at Aquadome Fields.

Hannah Wheeler hit a triple, while Alison Varner went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs. Sara Beth Wilson went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 3-8 on the season.

Good Hope 17, Priceville 0: The Raiders combined for 11 hits, 11 RBIs and 14 runs in the game at Aquadome Fields.

Hartselle 10, West Point 0: Jada Hayes hurled a one-hitter, striking out seven for the Tigers (10-7-1) on Thursday.

Baylee Holt finished with a double, two singles and an RBI, while Hayes added two singles and two RBIs.

Leah Stephenson hit three singles with an RBI and Emily Lipinski added a single.

Baseball

Madison County 6-12, East Limestone 4-5: Colby Sneed finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs, but Madison County scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to win Game 1 of the doubleheader at East Limestone.

Cameron Ashmore, Seth Fowler and Ben Rhodes each hit a single.

Ashmore homered and doubled in the finale, but East Limestone had no answer for Madison County’s offense in falling 12-5.

Andrew Gilewicz had three hits in the loss for the Indians, while Chase Long added two.

Golf

Morgan County Golf Tournament: Both Hartselle boys and girls teams picked up the tournament win, as Jake Tiffin, Garrett Reist, Aaron Compton, Robbie Fields combined for a score of 323 for the Hartselle Red.

Decatur came in second in the boys brackett with a combined score of 333.

Arin Eddy, Beth Ann Compton and Lunden Turner totaled 271 to lead the girls tournament. Danville trailed at 353.

Patrick Newsom shot a 78 to take the individual win, while Eddy fired a 74 to lead the girls.

Tennis

Decatur Heritage girls 8, West Point 1: In No. 2 singles, Abby Tubbs won 8-1, while Ginny Light won 8-3 in No. 3 singles. April Little won 8-3 in No. 4 singles, Avery Bowman won 8-2 in No. 5 singles and Llewellyn South won 8-1 in No. 6 singles.

In doubles, teams of Emme Slaton and Tubbs, Light and Little and Bowman and South all posted wins to improve to 6-1 on the season.
