Josh Walker scored on fourth-quarter runs of 26 and 10 yards to help 10th-ranked Austin defeat rival Decatur 34-17 tonight at Ogle Stadium.
The Black Bears (2-0, 1-0 Class 6A, Region 8) also blocked and recovered a Decatur punt in the end zone in the fourth quarter after trailing 17-14 at the end of the third. The Black Bears outscored Decatur 20-0 in the final quarter.
Austin led 14-3 at halftime after Chris Sparkman threw touchdown passes of 43 and 55 yards.
Decatur (1-1, 0-1) came back in the third quarter. Its first touchdown came on Josh Matthews' 1-yard run, cutting Austin's advantage to 14-10.
Decatur then blocked a punt and followed with a touchdown to vault into the lead.
The Black Bears defeated the Red Raiders in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1981-84. Austin defeated Decatur 35-25 in 2011.
