Well, for Austin what you are going to find is, lower gates because when the away teams have to travel that far to a game, people just will not drive that far, plus it will put a heck of a burden on familes with kids in the band and on the team to make a two hour travel to a game. No this is not good for Austin.
The AHSAA is not a very well run organization right now and this proves it. Austin's was not the only bad move that was made. Tanner is in a region with Fultondale. The only fair solution to the madness is to go back to the Area format used for basketball. But that proposal was turned down by the Central Board this year. It seems when decisions are made in Montgomery, the thought process goes out the window. Gate receipts, travel times and the other inconveniences have no bearing on the decisions. There are a lot of other options available but they are just tossed by the wayside. In a struggling economy, they need to make the best decisions for all involved.
I was under the false impression that the economy is in recovery. Just think of this as a way to "spread the wealth" of the people of Decatur to the people of Birmingham.
its good
Go ahead and fire Strunk now at Lawrence County. Looking at the area that they are going to be in, there is no way they will win an aread game here after winning 3 games in the last 2 years in 4A.......Times are unfortunately gonna get rougher for the Red Devils. :(
How can the school system afford to do this without money?????
