This is but a necessary first step in returning power to the local level. Perhaps in the not too distant future, local communities will have power over the curriculum, particularly in the realms of history. social studies and literature. There is no place in school for Democrat Party social causes so alien to our community experience amid, or prior to, academic pursuit, especially in young, underdeveloped, malleable minds, responsibility for which falls to parents and churches. Remember, it was not the highway department, the state treasurer, NARCOG, or, the city council to which the Democrat Party turned to promote its horrific social agenda, it was the U.S. Department of Education. The local teachers and school boards, our fellow citizens and neighbors, openly defiant, have insidiously pressed each day the latest Democrat Party cause upon the minds of our children, currently teaching tolerance of rampant homosexuality in society. Our children watch as group after group, transsexuals, atheists, abortionists, and the like turn to the government for special favor and are generally rewarded with court decisions that impose that which what the citizenry opposes. While there are many local teachers who resist these government mandates to the extent possible, there remain stalwarts in the system, including school board members, who will not conform to local social standards and must be subjected to public pressure and brought to heel. While the federal government controls the school agenda, it is teacher pay over which the local community exerts greater influence and through which must come reform. With popular support for abortion now on the wane, there may not come a better opportunity to reshape our children's abhorrent academic regimen. It is time to instill anew in our children the premise that government exists to secure our rights, not to grant them.

Otis

You are so right. Thanks for the comment.

Comes the question, is "rampant" the most accurate word to describe current homosexual status? Let us see, huge parades displaying the gaudiest costumes and most vulgar behavior making their way through America's largest cities on an annual basis and broadcast by the nationwide news media, and, prime time television replete with homosexual characters awarded the cleverest scripted lines, actually promoting homosexual behavior while our children endure forced indoctrination by our local school system. Rampant is, of course, the correct word.

It is amazing that Arthur Orr always has something to say about public education. He and his kids all go to private schools and he has never had anything to do with our public schools..Talk about something you know Orr.

That Senator Orr cares for his children is evidence of superb parenting, that he cares for mine as well is evidence of magnanimous compassion. The senator is to be commended.

Oops! The previous comment should read: That Senator Orr cares for his children's education is evidence of superb parenting, that he cares for my children's education is evidence of magnanimous compassion. My apologies.

Senator Orr has no business being involved in anything that has do with public schools. Superb parenting, whatever, he showed his children the way to handle things is to pack up and quit when things don't go your way, like he did when he took his kids out of Decatur City Schools. Otis by the way everytime you open your mouth on this forum you no doubt show that you should be the spokesperson for the following statement 'it is better to be thought a fool than to open mouth and remove all doubt"

Thank you, "Wst Morgan," for sharing your thoughts. Your comment speaks volumes. Please, favor us with your expanded view.

Well said west Morgan! He has no regard for our public schools at all! Ed Henry is even worse! And I am a Republican!

Orr needs to excuse himself from any education topic. He is one of the reason our schools had yo start in late August and kill our schools holidays. Its so funny he is so against Obama and socialism . Well when we tell schools when to start and end it seems socialism to me:) Also he went to a private out of state college? Makes you wonder??
