Stanford should do his job and quit whining about getting an overpaid assistant.
We have a full time industrial recruiter, his name is Jeremy Nails. He does a great job. The City helps with his salary. Let's not do a patchwork cure but cut to the chase and hire a trained person to run the day to day operation of this city.
If the mayor can't do the job we voted him to do, get out. The mayor gets paid over $100,000 a year and does what? Take his family on vacation. So now we are going to pay someone else big bucks to do what the other mayors had no trouble doing themselves. Please resign mayor.
WOW, What a great way to save money. Hire a person to help a man do nothing. Maybe we should add 2 more people to the City Council to add to the confusion on how to run the city. I'm sure they have some relatives standing by to help. That would also inprove the economy in Decatur. IF these people had a brain they would be dangerous. STanford should live up to his campaign promises or get the hell out of office. and let someone run it that knows how.

Baahaahaa, baahaahaa, wait, let me catch my breath.......Okay, now that I am off the floor, back in my chair, and can breathe once again, I just want to say thank you to the Decatur City Council. You have completely taken all focus away from the Lawrence County Commissioners (and all of their stupidity and political shenanigans) and turned it upon yourselves. The Decatur City Council is such a joke and laughingstock! Each day, I anticipate what ignorance they are subjecting their constituents to. This one tops the cake. An administrative assistant making $100,000 a year...where do I apply?
You can not do it this way with out changing the job descrption of the Mayor, along with cutting his pay. As far as I know now, we have no CFO, or anyone in charge of finance, overseeing that VERY IMPORTANT job. To hire someone to take some of the job load off of the Mayor is just plain silly. If your going to do this, then lets change the form of govt. and have a city admin. like they are talking about.
The next election cannot get here soon enough.
Stanford should resign. He can't do the job. Hire him a $100,000 assistant?? Bullsh--! WHAT A JOKE. Reeves should be kicked off for pushing such a WASTE of taxpayer money!!
