Breaking News: Man with gun seen outside school

A man with a gun was sighted near Somerville Road Elementary at about 3 p.m. this afternoon.

According to police radio traffic, a 911 caller said a 6-foot-tall black male wearing a backpack and carrying a rifle was walking near the campus. He left in a brown late-model car headed toward Decatur High.

Children waiting for their rides were ushered back inside the school by police while they began a search for the man.
