Browns Ferry too hot to handle
High river temperatures force cutback in nuke plant’s output at a cost of $40 million to TVA
A hot river and state regulations have cost the Tennessee Valley Authority and its ratepayers $40 million since July 8, a TVA spokesman said Tuesday.
TVA’s Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, which supplies electricity to Morgan, Limestone and Lawrence counties, is operating at 45 percent capacity after it violated an Alabama Department of Environmental Management permit Monday.
