Alcohol tax revenues up a whole lot, Sales tax revenue up a whole lot, yet decatur cannot afoord to cut the grass and weeds witht eh Publlic works dept. Yet they continue to penalize people who can't afford it for whatever reason. Seem fair? Raise the fines on running red lights up to $ 300.00. You' generate a whole lot more and cut down on traffic fatalities at the same time. Accident occur reguarly by this offense. Use the extra money to let work release inmates go to private residents who cannot afford it and let them cut the grass . When Alabama had road gangs, the state was a lot cleaner. I know, I drove through it years and years ago.
It amazes me that residences with overgrown grass get the little red sign and our medians get cut one time during the summer. Last year we were so ashamed of how the Beltline looked! Hopefully it will be better this year!
Maybe Roger can find a way to raise rates in our utilities some more to cover the costs of getting our alleys cut.
