Clements High cross-country star Alison Jay made her college decision official, signing a National Letter of Intent with Alabama-Huntsville.
Jay celebrated the moment with a gathering of friends and family Thursday morning in the gymnasium on Clements’ campus.
Jay was selected as The Daily’s 2012 girls cross-country runner of the year.
As a senior, Jay closed out her high-school career strong. She finished second at the Northwest Alabama Championships, and followed with an 11th-place finish at the Class 3A state meet.
In her last four seasons at Clements, Jay collected four straight state cross-country medals.
East Limestone’s Wilson signs softball scholarship: East Limestone softball player Bridgette Wilson signed Wednesday with Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville.
Wilson, who plays left field, was one of East Limestone’s leading hitters as a junior last season. ASCC Eagles softball coach Elaine Covin attended the signing.
