HARTSELLE — A convicted sex offender is back in jail after being arrested and charged with failure to notify authorities of a residency change of address.
Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said officers arrested Gregory Ray Battles, 56, on Friday night at his home at 3512 Huckaby Bridge Road in Hartselle.
Sgt. Pete Taylor of the Criminal Investigation Division said Battles was previously convicted of first-degree sexual abuse with the victim being under the age of 12.
"In addition to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, Battles was also charged with four counts of living with minors under the age of 12," Taylor said.
Battles remained in Morgan County Jail on Monday morning in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Why was this scumbag ever let out of jail at all?
This is one of many faces that is robbing our children of their innocence. Our children deserve the utmost due diligence among all the adults who are their care takers. Make sure you really and truly know who you are leaving your children with. When a child is abused it is forever changing their place in our society and their outlook on life and those around them. We hold their future in our hands by the decisions we make. Pedophiles destroy lives. Please stop these people for hurting our children. I pray for harsher laws in our future.
"from"" hurting our children.... i meant to say
