To The Daily: On Oct. 20, 2012, I played drums with the Moondust jazz orchestra at the Decatur Elks Lodge.
As I was loading my drums from the stage to my car, someone stole two 1965 vintage cymbals, a 20-inch Zildjian Sizzler cymbal, and a 20-inch Paiste heavy ride cymbal. I had played these cymbals for 48 years and performed all over the United States and cruise ships.
My father, age 90 and suffering from Alzheimer's disease, bought these drums and cymbals for me in 1965. They were like a part of my family. My father cried — as I did — when I told him my cymbals were stolen.
I earnestly plead for the return of my two cymbals. I am offering a reward for their safe return.
