DANVILLE — The Danville Hawks had a two-point lead entering the final quarter Monday but couldn't give new coach Scott Ellis the win in a season-opening 47-38 loss to Belgreen.
Justin Morgan led Danville with 14 points, followed by Slater Robinson with 12 and Kyle Alexander eight. Chase Landers paced Belgreen with 16 and Josh Devaney added 14.
Danville girls win: The Lady Hawks hit 15 3-pointers and forced 30 turnovers in the 67-27 season-opening win over Belgreen.
Danville jumped out to a 16-1 first-quarter lead and cruised to the win.
Tabetha Hutto had 12 points and eight steals as 13 Lady Hawks scored.
