just another brain flash, they say that most of this bill will be paid for by stoping fraud, cutting back on spending, and inacting other mesures to bring in the money. let them do all thses things for five years, put it ito a lock box, and see how much money they can put back to cover all these costs. i think people would be less inclined to be against it if they prove the money will be there without a large tax increase. also it would give time to have a true bill to introduce to the house and senate, that would not be so wishy washy. i dont realy think the money spenders would go for this, but its a thought. social security was in a lock box, and spent all of it.

i just looked up the deficit for social security for the year 2008 (google). the benifits paid out are 6.5 trillion more than the taxes taken in. i can not find the numbers for 2009.

if everyone belived in exactly the same things, what kind of country would we have.

we need shouters from both sides, it shows that someone is concerned.

Remember when hospice was a free service hosted by caring volunteers? Then someone said, "We can make alot of money out of this".

You are the zero. You post some dribble that is totally off subject. We always find money to pay for things. This is a great nation with smart folks they will work it out. If not our Army will.

End of life preparation can save a family much stress. I have a will and a contract for burial so my family or friends won't worry about what to do with my body.

Please wake up America.. the elderly are given death sentences right now and it will get worse. I have heard doctor's say just take them home and sign up for hospice. WELL.. first of all, none of you are God and you cannot say that person will or will not live. That should be up to the person and not the doctor. Most go on home and their medicines are cut out except for pain medication and maybe heart and BP and that is soon cut out too and they increase the Morphine on that weak person until they stop breathing.

Morphine slows down the respiratory system. That looks like murder to me.. but they will tell you they are just making things easy for them.. BULL CRAP!!! They are brain washed to think they are doing what is best for that person.

So, that will get worse in the Health Care bill because the care for those past 65 is next to none. I have read lots of the bill.

HOSPICE IS NOT .. non profitable..

When you sign up with Hospice you no longer can take your family to the doctor .. it is left up to them to decide. Most people are very tired from caring from a very ill person and don't realize what they are getting in to and the service stinks. They have all kind of little services like wishing you a happy birthday but very little service for the patient. Most people need something like Home Health care in those situations and not a nurse paying visits (Once a week) and doing nothing and a bath person who doesn't do their job. That's it.. So, Hospice care is next to zero care and they are more than willing to increase the Morphine.

America better wake up to what Obama has turned the Democratic Party into.. Why can't we question his Zaar's. ???

What about the army Obama has raised up that is getting ready to take our country over. Why? did he take over GM and other big companies and fire their president..because he is setting us up for a government take over.

I would advise every American to watch the news ABC and NBC don't tell the truth.. get informed to what is going on and this health plan is part of the take over.. we don't have the money to pay for this plan.. so, the elderly , deformed and retarded get ready..

Why do you tell such stories. I have seen Hospice in action they are Angels. Palin is a idiot! She is not a Christian just look into her Church teachings. Everytime someone says they are a "good christian" I worry why do they have to tell me.

My relatives continue to see any Doctor they wish and they are under hospice care.

It is all about Democrats and Republicans. Here is the fact. Republicans are mad because they lost the election. And, because the president is black Republicans think it is ok to smash mouth everything. How sad it is to see good folks fall so far away from goodness.

Hospice is nonprofit. They pay salaries like Churches and other organizations. Hospice gets my wink.

You know what is wrong with you is you flow with the crowd who is not informed on what is going on and afraid to step out and say we have had enough.

Every family knows about making a budget and living within its means. Government, to put it bluntly, does not.

What if your husband or wife had come home last Friday night and announced that he had racked up almost 30 percent more debt on the family credit card - including the mortgage and car loans - than he had told you about just a month ago?

Would you trust him to go out and start spending money to remodel the kitchen? And do you think he could get a loan to do it?

But that's exactly what the Obama Administration did with their weekend news dump. They announced late Friday that the amount of money they don't have but are nonetheless planning on spending over the next ten years isn't the astonishing $7 trillion they estimated in May but is instead an astounding $9 trillion.

Andy McCarthy of National Review put it, "Compared to the infinite complexity of healthcare and health-insurance, cash-for-clunkers is kindergarten stuff. You trade in your old car for a new one that gets (slightly) better mileage and the government gives you money - between $3,500 and $4,500. How hard is that?"

The government wizards who set up cash-for-clunkers initially budgeted to sell 250,000 cars in three months.

The program sold that many in four days.

And because the central planners who think they can provide government "competition" to the private health insurance market failed to accurately estimate how many government workers it would take to administer cash-for-clunkers, they had to take employees from the FAA - air traffic controllers, - to help manage the demand.

And what about the car dealerships the program was supposed to help in the first place? Even though the rebates were supposed to be paid within 10 days, only 7 percent of federal promises under cash-for-clunkers have been paid so far, leaving dealers with millions of dollars in unfunded government promises.

There's been a lot of worrying about the inevitability of government rationing health care under the Democratic reform bills in Congress.

Economists have known about this inevitability for a long time. Well, Americans can stop worrying. Government is rationing care already - and doing it in a particularly stupid way.

Studies have shown that early use of home health care after hospitalization - allowing patients to go home and be visited by a nurse to manage their care - saves Medicare billions of dollars.

So here is a case where an innovative government program actually saves the government money. Home health care is both more compassionate and more efficient. It reduces the likelihood a patient will be readmitted to a hospital by allowing her to heal in a more familiar setting.

So naturally bureaucrats at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services cut $34 billion from this compassionate, efficient program last week.

And if the House health care reform bill becomes law, an additional $56.8 billion will be cut from the program - an amount equal to almost the entire federal budget for home health care services in 2007.

As a new book by the Center for Health Transformation's Jim Frogue details, criminals rip off the taxpayers to the tune of $80 billion to $120 billion each year in the current Medicare and Medicaid programs.

We're not talking about inadvertent bill errors but outright fraud. Government health programs are currently paying men maternity benefits, giving taxpayer dollars to pizza parlors that are supposed to be HIV transfusion centers, and even paying dead patients federal health care benefits.

Bubba, when you get informed then, you come back to the board. Home health care is far better than Hospice. Hospice is no more than a social club with all their little do good method's that don't help the patient at all.

Sarah Palin is a Christian and I question your opinion on that since you don't seem to recognize a real Christian.

This is an American problem not a Democrat or Republican problem and you better get your head out of the sand and pay attention.

If people in the USA don't wake up on this issue and see what's going on, this will be the biggest blow to every single person who lives here. It will touch every American because it has nothing to do with "free" health care covering every uninsured person in our country. We are in the era of the baby boomers, elderly parents and grandparents.

Our health care system is not in the toilet because of Medicare, which by the way ... most who are on it, pay for it each month. Politicians need to tell the truth about Medicare. Those who are in that system worked most of their lives and paid into the system. Yet the government spends that money as fast as they can - and not just on health care for the elderly! Each working generation has funded the previous generation's benefits. Medicare is "in the hole" because the government does NOT know how to stop spending it on other things!!!

The health care cost upsurge in the US started years ago when the mega-HMO entered the picture. HMO health care drove up the costs. Anyone who has a HMO plan knows: the HMO companies determine what procedures you can or cannot have. HMO doctors are under "rules" placed on them by HMO insurance companies, and they receive kickbacks of sorts according to the number of patients they see in a day/week. That's why patients feel they are on a production line when going to the doctor: 2 hours wait to see the doc - 15 minutes with the doc - and everything in-between is handled by a nurse. The costs of premiums started low but increased over the years as well as the cost of in-patient and out-patient co-pays. If a person loses their job, KOBRA offers to continue the insurance for 2 years at a cost that is way too high for most people to pay. If anyone has ever had a bad HMO experience, multiply that by millions and you know what a government-run health plan would be like.

Next there's Medicaid for the poor and disabled. The sad part is that years ago, states started cutting their Medicaid programs "because it's too costly". To apply for Medicaid, the government requires every piece of information regarding you including bank statements, tax returns, etc. Everything from A to Z. This very private information on you is sent to government-run Medicaid offices where anyone can read it including clerks. You are put into a computer system if you are lucky enough to qualify. Most people cannot because you cannot have more that $800 - $1000 (depends on the state) monthly income. This "income" includes Social Security and SSI. So if you live on social security and your income is $875/month, but the government has cut the rate of income for qualification down to $775/mo - you will not qualify for Medicaid assistance. If you do qualify, you have to re-qualify every year with the same private information. Plus most doctors will not accept Medicaid patients because Medicaid does not pay in a timely fashion! Again, this is "government health care insurance" - not for lazy people as some might think, but rather for the elderly and the disabled. And this is the one program in every single state that gets on the chopping block!! Think about it. This group of people who needs health care the most is singled out by the government!

Medicare is government-run health insurance for the elderly and disabled. There is a monthly premium for the majority on Medicare. Doctors will accept it - most of the time - some doctors are no longer taking Medicare patients ... and why? Because the government is not paying the bills on time. Medicare patients also pay a co-pay. Again, the government-sponsored insurance dictates who can have which services and when. It's more or less rationed out until "something" happens that requires hospitalization. That something could very well mean death, just like in the HMOs.

Do not think for one minute that the people on Medicare are on it because they are too lazy to work ... they are on it because they are in the uninsured category: "seniors" and "disabled"! These are the weakest and most loved in our nation of people - the ones who cannot help themselves for whatever reason. And these are the most vulnerable when it comes who will receive life-saving procedures.

The government cannot and should not get into the health care business! What they should do is take care of those already in!!

Words of warning: regardless of who speaks FOR this universal health care - think of these programs: Medicaid and Medicare. How has the government handled them?

Also, notice how many times a politician tells the American people "we cannot afford Medicare ..." - "Social Security in gone" - "we have to cut Medicaid costs".

Ask anyone on either of those government programs or with a HMO how it's working for them. Cost-wise and other experiences.

Obama says, "Yes you can ... keep your doctor."

What he doesn't tell you is ... "IF that doctor works with our program."

I encourage everyone to research on this subject and if you find it as scarey as I do, write to your Politicians in your state as well as those who represent you in Washington. Don't stop there. Write all of them because ALL in congress and the senate vote. Their vote effects you as much as the ones from their state.

This is not a subject to be taken lightly ... it requires you doing your part.

Why doesn't our president take care of this..

The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads in part, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside."

It's estimated there may be over 300,000 anchor babies born each year in the U.S. Thus, illegal alien mothers now add more to U.S. population each year than immigration from all sources in an average year before 1965. These babies are called anchor babies because they act as an anchor that pulls the illegal alien mother and a host of other relatives into permanent U.S. residency.

FAIR estimates "there are currently between 287,000 and 363,000 children born to illegal aliens each year. This figure is based on the crude birth rate of the total foreign-born population (33 births per 1000) and the size of the illegal alien population (between 8.7 and 11 million). In 1994, California paid for 74,987 deliveries to illegal alien mothers, at a total cost of $215.2 million (an average of $2,842 per delivery). Illegal alien mothers accounted for 36 percent of all Medi-Cal funded births in California that year."

FAIR research shows that "the Urban Institute estimates that the cost of educating illegal alien children in the nation's seven states with the highest concentration of illegal aliens was $3.1 billion in 1993 (which, with the growth of their population to 1.3 million, would be more like $5 billion in 2000). This estimate does not take into account the additional costs of bilingual education or other special educational needs."

In a recent year in Colorado, the state's emergency Medicaid program paid an estimated $30 million in hospital and physician delivery costs for about 6,000 illegal immigrant mothers - average of $5,000 per baby. Those 6,000 births to illegal aliens represent 40% of the births paid for by Medicaid in Colorado. Those 6,000 babies immediately became U.S. citizens and qualified for full Medicaid services, with a cost yet to be tabulated.

An illegal alien mother only has to say she is "undocumented" in order to receive immediate - and free - medical care. Denver Health is now proposing that taxpayers approve a bond issue to pay for a bigger obstetrics unit. The present unit was built for 1,600 births a year, yet last year alone it handled 3,500.

"Mexican ambulance drivers are driving their hospital patients who can't pay for medical care in Mexico, to facilities in the United States. They know that the federal Emergency Medical Act mandates that U.S. hospitals with emergency-room services must treat anyone who requires care, including illegal aliens.

Medical service for Americans in affected communities is being severely damaged as hospitals absorb more than $200 million in unreimbursed costs. Some emergency rooms have shut down because they cannot afford to stay open. Local tax-paying Americans are either denied medical care or have to wait in long lines for service as the illegals flood the facilities. In California, the losses are calculated to be about $79 million, with $74 million in Texas, $31 million in Arizona, and $6 million in New Mexico."1

These costs are staggering. The Cochise County, Arizona Health Department spends as much as 30 percent of its annual $9 million budget on illegal aliens.3 The Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee, Arizona, has spent $200,000 in uncompensated services out of a net operating budget of $300,000.3 The University Medical Center in Tucson may lose as much as $10 million and the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, also in Tucson, has lost $1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2002.3

The Gwinnett, Georgia, Hospital System expects has established a $34 million reserve to cover its anticipated outlay for illegal aliens in 2003. Los Angeles Times columnist Ronald Brownstein wrote in his December 30, 2003 column that the 'Health-Care Storm Brewing in California Threatens to Swamp U.S... the impending Medicaid disaster is not a problem the states can handle alone; their budget shortfalls are too big.'2

"The General Accounting Office traveled to southern Arizona to study the impact of illegal immigrants on Arizona and other border state hospitals. In 2002, three hospitals located in Cochise County funded more than $1 million in uncompensated health care costs... The Florida Hospital Association surveyed 28 hospitals and found that health care for illegal aliens totaled at least $40 million in 2002."

If your representative in Congress is among those who have refused to vote for the proposed socialized healthcare reform bill, THANK him or her. This bill is not healthcare reform — it’s BIG BROTHER! The following list is just a snippet of items included in the bill. Not only does this program have the potential to bankrupt the nation, it will strip away many freedoms we enjoy. Please don’t blindly follow or support Obama just because you may think he is “cool.” Educate yourself about his agenda, much of which is blatantly displayed in this list:

• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!

• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!

• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits

you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)

• Page 42: The “Health Choices Commissioner” will decide health benefits

for you. You will have no choice. None.

• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free

healthcare services.

• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.

• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all

individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.

• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community

organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)

• Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to

participate in a Healthcare Exchange.

• Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare

Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)

• Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services;

translation: illegal aliens

• Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up

individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.

• Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you

have no choice in the matter.

• Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No

“judicial review” is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply,

private insurers will be crushed.

• Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.

• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run

public plan. No alternatives.

• Page 126: Employers MUST pay healthcare bills for part-time employees AND

their families.

• Page 149: Any employer with a payroll of $400K or more, who does not

offer the public option, pays an 8% tax on payroll

• Page 150: Any employer with a payroll of $250K-400K or more, who does not

offer the public option, pays a 2 to 6% tax on payroll

• Page 167: Any individual who doesnt’ have acceptable healthcare

(according to the government) will be taxed 2.5% of income.

• Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes

(Americans will pay for them).

• Page 195: Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy

will have access to ALL American financial and personal records.

• Page 203: “The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as

tax.” Yes, it really says that.

• Page 239: Bill will reduce physician services for Medicaid. Seniors and

the poor most affected.”

• Page 241: Doctors: no matter what speciality you have, you’ll all be paid

the same (thanks, AMA!)

• Page 253: Government sets value of doctors’ time, their professional

judgment, etc.

• Page 265: Government mandates and controls productivity for private

healthcare industries.

• Page 268: Government regulates rental and purchase of power-driven

wheelchairs.

• Page 272: Cancer patients: welcome to the wonderful world of rationing!

• Page 280: Hospitals will be penalized for what the government deems

preventable re-admissions.

• Page 298: Doctors: if you treat a patient during an initial admission

that results in a readmission, you will be penalized by the government.

• Page 317: Doctors: you are now prohibited for owning and investing in

healthcare companies!

• Page 318: Prohibition on hospital expansion. Hospitals cannot expand

without government approval.

• Page 321: Hospital expansion hinges on “community” input: in other words,

yet another payoff for ACORN.

• Page 335: Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures:

i.e., rationing.

• Page 341: Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage

Plans, HMOs, etc.

• Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS individuals.

• Page 379: More bureaucracy: Telehealth Advisory Committee (healthcare by

phone).

• Page 425: More bureaucracy: Advance Care Planning Consult: Senior

Citizens, assisted suicide, euthanasia?

• Page 425: Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills,

durable powers of attorney, etc. Mandatory. Appears to lock in estate taxes

ahead of time.

• Page 425: Goverment provides approved list of end-of-life resources,

guiding you in death.

• Page 427: Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment;

government dictates how your life ends.

• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment

as patient’s health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life

plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT.

• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at

end-of-life.

• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.

• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.

• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government

intervenes in your marriage.

• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining,

creating and rationing those services.

How many television hucksters rush you to buy something because the opportunity will not last? How many used car salesmen have told you that you that you need to 'sign on the dotted line' without fully reading the contract because the details are simply 'boilerplate'? When was the last time some stock broker showed you the numbers for just the first few years of a loan repayment because 'the investment will pay for itself'despite a huge balloon payment coming up? Welcome to health care reform, President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid-style.

Speaking at a town hall event earlier this month, Obama said, "For those who say, 'Well, you know what, this is something that is very complicated, so we shouldn't rush into it,' that's what happens in Congress all the time." The President believes health care reform is something we should "rush," even though it is very complicated. More recently, he said, "I just want to put everybody on notice, because there was a lot of chatter during the week that I was gone: We are going to get this done." Why is the President is using the same tactics as the predatory lenders and television hucksters?

Steny Hoyer (D-Md), the House Majority Leader, recently responded to a question about members of Congress actually reading the health care reform bill before voting in favor of it. "If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn't read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes." In other words, do not bother to read the contract you are about to sign. Do not worry about what is actually in the bill, or what it means. Trust us -- it does not ration care to seniors, it does not raise taxes on small businesses and millions of the uninsured, it will not force you to give up your doctor or the health plan you currently have.

And cost, well no need to worry. You need these reforms. They will only cost $1.5 trillion anyway. The Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, recently touted the $950 billion in "savings" to Medicare that will be achieved in just the first 10 years alone. The specifics do not matter, so she does not actually say exactly how this will be accomplished. The "closing costs" of health reform will be paid only by "the seller" and you, the American public, are the buyer! Taxes and Fees? There may be a few, but its just "part of the deal."

In the bill proposed by the Democrats in the House of Representatives, if you are one of the estimated 8 million Americans who make less than $250,000 per year but do not get health insurance under the plan, you will just pay 2.5% of your income, or about $1,250 if you are lucky enough to make $50,000 per year.

Who gets the benefit of the fees? The House Tri-Committee bill makes a $10 billion minimum investment in bailing out the unions that helped bankrupt the auto industry, while exempting current union health care contracts from the same rules you will have to follow.

And speaking of benefits, the health care you will get has not been determined yet. It may cover your disease or condition. If your state has required insurers to cover your problem, but the federal government does not include it in the basic benefit plan, you may be out of luck -- since costs will make it hard for states to offer any additional services. And Obama wants to give an unelected group more power than Congress to determine what is covered and who can get treated.

The cost predictions of the House and Senate bills by the Congressional Budget Office show almost no cost to you. Do not bother to look to carefully at the numbers for the rest of the years. It shows that the expenses balloon and then continue to increase at the same rate of medical inflation as we have now. This will add tens of trillions to the nearly $40 trillion we already owe, and can't pay, on Medicare.

The President and Democrat leaders in Congress must think most Americans are not smart enough to realize the health care reforms they propose are equivalent to the bad loans and false promises that led to the current recession. But, unfortunately for them, many are catching on: 49% now oppose these reforms and only 45% support them, and the number of supporters is falling by the day. All Americans must demand time to read the bill, understand the provisions, and require honest long term accounting for the costs -- for the beneficiaries of today, and our children who will be paying for it in the future.

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

I feel for you and wish you well. I don't know what to say to make you feel better. So I will leave you with this. Republicans along with those, blue democrats need to show leadership.

I think you should step up, run for office, because it is such a big issue to you. Not everyone was as blessed with a mind that can be educated as well as you. Many are not as tough as you and trials tie them down. Those are the ones that we are responsible for. Sure some will slide but I think many more will be helped.

Sorry you hate Hospice, the Government and I assume most everyone.

Thank you for the prayers. I am a Christian who sees a great wrong being done to America and it's people. I stand for God first , my family and then my country. I am not religious because it was the religious church going people who put Jesus on the cross. I don't just live for God on Sunday but the rest of the week too. We better put our voice out there while we can or we won't enjoy the right to do so. We need to be informed and not sit here with our head in the sand or we will see our children and grandchildren taken prisoner by wicked men.

Listerner, How do you propose to do that with a Mulsim President and open homosexuality in Congress and the theives and liars. . You have got to be kidding. Did you know that the President ask that the cross be covered with a sheet when he went to Notre Dame? Did you know that a minister's who have prayer in his presence are not allowed to use the name of Jesus. There is absolutely no power with out the name of Jesus and every Christian knows that. There is no need to pray.. Now tell me what do you think we should do? I think you should put on the full armour of God and go to work instead of trying to use God's word to correct me.. get the plank out of your eye.
