Hmmmm.... Wonder what the "CONSOLIDADTE" decision will be? Will the Board be of "ONE" mind? Will Ed's "DREAM of 1" come true?

Stay tuned...

***SPOILER ALERT***

We will build one...

They want it it will happen.....whether we like it or not...then a new stadium...then...then...

Can we vote on this? Or is it just the school board?

You elected the school board to vote for you on these matters. When they want more money such as a property tax increase, you can vote on that.

I have so many concerns about consolidation. Fewer opportunities for kids to be involved in extracurricular activities, the taking away of more personal "neighborhood" schools where children can walk (and many do), and what in the world they will do with the old schools. I live near one of them, and I'm afraid of what they'll turn it into.

Angie, you bring up a good point on Neighborhood schools. This has been the norm in Decatur for years. IF we are going to continue this then lets get rid of the bus's. I know you need a certain amount for kids that have no means of getting to school, but we got in the Bus business and for no real good reason. We need to either change the model from Neighborhood schools and combine some, or we need to save some money and do away with all these bus's.

The four community meetings DID NOT address one school - I tried to bring it up but was told that it was not a topic of discussion! The strategic planning meeting is closed to the public - so no voive there. As far as Karen Duke - yes they have heard a lot from thepublic as in - WE DO NOT WANT ONE HIGH SCHOOL - but she and Ed Nichols does so they could care less what we think. The whol bunch of them need to be voted out. Yet Ed does not want more jobs brought to Decatur in the form of Sweetwater because it is cutting into his slush fund to build the new school. Hypocritical is theonly way to describe him decrying the flex school law when he is doing his dealings in a back room.

Decatur and Austin split in the 60's and now the powers that be have an epiphany to consolidate them back where we were in the 60's,but on different property,Why ?

@ William - So Ed Nichols can say he is the Superintendent of the largest High School in the state - they cannot offer any proof how combining schools will fix the problems they raise. Also, wasn't Nichols Deputy Superintendent for years? So - isn't he to blame for the problems as well?
