Potholes are unique? Why should this woman be surprised? These guys have been all hat and no cattle forever. And why is a city attorney on top of the leaf collection issue? Just a small example of the circus that is our city government.

Why would this lady think these potholes should jump to the top of the list of "'THINGS TO DO"? Because it's Deerfoot????????? FYI there are potholes ALL over these Decatur streets, get in line Deerfoot.....you aren't anymore of a priority than Carridale Street!!!! Guess the elite thinks people should jump when they say to!!!! What a freaking joke. I'm with you on this one Billy! Tell 'em to wait in line or take that HOA fee and fix it themselves!!!! And could someone please tell me what Herman Marks is good for???????????????? Cause after all these years, I haven't figured it out!!!! What a waste of city money to have him on payroll.........

I'm "the lady" you speak of. Apparently neither of you have been following the progress of this story. We ARE NOT the elite in Decatur, but tax paying citizens like everyone else SHOULD be. If you read any of the previous stories concerning this problem, you would realize that we've been promised by the city that 1) it was NEVER the city's problem 2) the city finally stepped up to their responsibility and said work would begin the 1st week of November. The article quoted" our patience is wearing thin" since we've not seen or heard anything from the city. No one in this neighborhood has an elitist attitude. BUT we are homeowners who have been subjected to poor/ bad decisions that were governed by the city. Hence it has always been our position that the city is liable, since they control the permits and oversee all road work since the city will be the ultimate controlling authority over the roads. If roads were always put in the way ours were, you too would have holes that ere over 18 inches deep in places, and now many places are down to just dirt. It is so easy to spew vitriol and not know the full facts.

If I were a home owner in this subdivision, and I might soon be one, I would head down to Lowe's, buy a few bags of Quik-crete and solve the problem myself. Especially, if it were in front of my house. Way too much drama surrounding this story. There are potholes everywhere in this city. The city makes promises all the time that they don't keep or have any intention of keeping. If you raise enough stink with Public Works, say everyday for a month, they might just get fed up with hearing from Deerfoot and come fix the problem. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

I know there are more important roads in Decatur with potholes than a subdivision that I don't even know where it is. Roads that thousands of people drive on everyday. Do thousands of people drive on these roads in a month? Why are these potholes and this community getting special treatment is what I want to know

Janet.....guess what? I am a homeowner too, with a pothole at the end of my driveway that has been there for years!!!! I know you all aren't the elite and as well as you are a tax paying citizen, so are the rest of us!!!!! Your potholes are about as important as mine! Mine hasn't been fixed, so why should the city stop all work and come fix ya'll potholes? Because the houses start out at $200 plus????????? You should have your potholes fixed when everyone else's gets fixed. Guess what? The city of Decatur owes you as much as it owes the rest of it's tax paying homeowners! So, get in line and wait your turn! Not jumping over or through hoops for Deerfoot!!!!

@ William....they think because it's Deerfoot, they deserve special and immediate treatment!!!! And they don't!!!!

Seems the real issue here should be what policies on development construction produced this situation and how can another occurrence be prevented in the future. As to the incessant carping about Mr. Marks, he probably speaks for the administration by default; no one else will take responsibility. Wasn't the position created for Wally Terry designed to be a communication coordinator and problem solver? Someone needs to step up and own the problem and get it solved. If the pothole matter is indicative of the problem solving capability of the City heaven help us.

William, Again you failed to read the entirety of my comment or previous articles. The city allowed this to happen, and even approved the work that was way under standard. And we've been waiting since 2005 for these streets to be fixed. AND yes, we've been to the city multiple times, and the answer is always "Don't call us, we'll call you." (To the point we were told by the city to speak to them through an attorney only, which we've hired.) It would seem like getting quick-crete would be the simplest solution, but the problem would still be there. The HOA has a little foresight to try and get to the best, and ultimate solution. If we did this every time a pothole was created, the city would NEVER ASSUME THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, which is what our ultimate goal is. And Billy was correct, the policies and development procedures at the city were at fault. THIS WAS THE ONLY SUBDIVISION ALLOWED TO BE BUILT OUT WITHOUT A BOND, only a line of credit. HMMMM, that is a bit fishy if you ask me. But knowing what I know about the developer, that smell is normal. But my question has and will always be, WHY DID THE CITY SIGN OFF ON IT?

Well you failed to answer my question. Why is this hardly traveled road more important than potholes on streets people actually drive on? I agree with Charles Kirby who I was told said these people are crybabies and we shouldn't prioritize them just because they whine the loudest.

Charles Kirby must be of the same mind as you, only interested in self.

Janet....the POINT is.....YA'LL POTHOLES AREN'T ANYMORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! Thousands of cars travels Carridale everyday...and there are potholes on Carridale! So, because the builder came out and built on only a line of credit, the city signed off, then the city should stop all work and fix your potholes??????? Please get over yourselves in Deerfoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should get to you when they get to you!!!!!! And my mind set is, there are more people in Decatur with similar situations, so you do not deserve immediate treatment because of your address or your builder's mess up!!!
