Whitney Lauren Dugger and Preston Lee Schmitt were married December 29, 2012 in a 6:00 evening ceremony held at Holmes Street United Methodist Church in Huntsville with Rev. Robert Sparkman officiating. A reception followed at the Huntsville Museum of Art.
The bride is the daughter of Alex and Stephanie Stewart of Hartselle and Troy and Linda Dugger of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of the late Allen and Melba Dugger of Decatur.
The groom is the son of David and Teresa Schmitt of Huntsville. He is the grandson of Warren Schmitt and the late Edith Lorraine Schmitt, the late Elbert Austin Phillips, Sr. and the late Shelby Jean Phillips.
The bride was escorted by Alex Stewart and Troy Dugger.
Matrons of honor were Hope Wallace Hamilton of Harselle and Leah Beth Downs McNutt of Birmingham, best friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kathryn Robinson of Russellville, Lauren Dye and Danyel Stephenson of Hartselle, Bailey Brooks of Huntsville, Sara Gipson of Muscle Shoals, Amy Richey of Gulf Port, Miss., and Megan Schmitt Gautney, sister of the groom, of Athens. Flower girls were Stella Grace Phillips and Macelyn Elizabeth Donaldson, both of Hartselle.
Best men were David Schmitt, father of the groom, and Warren Schmitt, grandfather of the groom. Groomsmen were Daniel Lumpkin and Alex Kluka of Huntsville, Samir Beri of Indianapolis, Ind., Keith Chronister and Kyle Chronister of Athens, Elbert Austin Phillips, III of Hazel Green, and Caleb Gautney, brother-in-law of the groom, of Athens. Ring bearer was Grayson Lumpkin of Huntsville.
Music at the reception was provided by The Flashbacks.
The couple is now residing in Meridianville.
