The MAYOR is noncommittal? That's code for "he says whatever he think you want to hear". If I oppose legalized sales and approach him about it, he'll oppose it too. If I support... well, you get the picture. Of course, to be fair to him, he wouldn't be a true politician if he didn't talk out of both sides of his mouth.
I believe this is a good thing for Falkville. Let the people decide whats good for their town, NOT the politicians. The people decided in Hartselle 7 years ago and the revenue goes to Decatur. Decatur isn't complaining at ALL! What's sad is that out of 15,000 people in Hartselle a little over 5,000 voted. If it passes GREAT! If it doesn't pass GREAT! The vote was put to the people and that is what this country is all about. Government was set up to SERVE the people, not RUN the people. Good Luck!
john, just for clarification - harstelle has a population of 15000- that total includes everyone under 18 that can't vote. not jumping on you, just pointing that out. not sure how many of the 15,000 would be allowed to vote.
hartselle, by the way, is already wet - they just don't get the tax revenue. the Big A store on 31 is bud's biggest account in decatur!!
HARTSELLE HAS YET ANOTHER REVENUE STREAM TO BLEED OUT FROM. THE TOWN IS RUN BY A BUNCH OF NAZIS!!!!!!
Tax the alcohol or pay higher taxes for services; which do you want.
go wet!
Stay dry. Decatur is enjoying the tax from Hartselle and Faulkville alcohol sales.
his statement is like the teflon don taking the fifth
go vote win....falkville will get an outback, and olive garden, and ruths kriss, maybe even a popeyes chicken.....and you can smoke there
eat your heart out decatur....ooops there goes another rubber tree...
remember falkvilleites.....vote early....and vote often....
Alton, Please next time maybe you can spell our town right. FALKVILLE.
This is 2009...I cant imagine everything not being wet. If you get out in this world and you tell people that you live in a dry county they laugh and say "WOW" the south IS behind in time and backwoods. Do you think that going wet is going to make alcoholics? People already drink, why shouldnt they be able to buy it in their own town. Or is it because all these closet drinking church going HOLY ROLLERS might be tempted to actually buy it locally and be seen instead of driving to one of MANY in Decatur where (whispering) nobody knows them there? Hmmm Get off your high horse and "let them drink and be merry!!"
