So, so very sad. Prayers for the Greer family and all involved.

why do people keep saying he is such a great man? He is a murderer! I'm just waiting for the article that reads how the church members collected money for his bail.

What people tend to forget is the fact that ministers, pastors, etc. are just human, as everyone else. Non-Christians seem to enjoy pointing out failures of people who proclaim to be Christians, but we ALL fail, and on a daily basis. I do not know this man, nor have I attended that Methodist church in Decatur, but I have to wonder about some things, such as, did he suffer brain damage from the heart attack that led to the vehicle accident. Many times brain damage is a result of heart failure. Further, did he sustain physical damage from the fall from the deck, or does he have a possible tumor that could be causing these accidents and unusual behavior. I'm not ruling out the fact that he could just be evil, but I prefer to think that someone who has given of their time and talents to a community of people would not commit this horrible act. My prayers are with his family and congregation.

Two things:

1. Yes, he has been arrested for murder and attempted murder. A Jefferson County DA will have to prove his guilt.

2. Without women no assembly or society would survive. But, where do we find that a woman, a female Bishop, can lead a worship assembly in the Bible? If you respond, please support your response with scripture, not your opinion. We cannot rewrite God's preserved Word. 1 Cor 14:34-35 is very clear on this matter.

His bail is $130,000. I doubt they will be able to raise that by "passing the hat" at Church.

TOMBSTONE from Athens -- why in the name of goodness do you have to bring your backward opinion about women's roles in the church into this discussion? It has absolutely nothing to do with the situation. Take your opinions on that somewhere else.

Well when it states in the Bible that women are to be quite, this is what they were speaking of....men sat on one side of the church and women sat on the other. The "be quite" was telling the women not to ask questions to the men during the service, "be quite" and wait until they got home!......Not an opinion, FACT!

And as long as a woman is preaching/teaching the word of God, why does it matter whom's mouth it is coming out of?????

Mr. Greer was wanting to hide the fact that he is in some shape, form, or fashion involved with the sex scandal that went on about 2 weeks ago! In my opinion, I believe he was going to kill his family and himself so they wouldn't have to endure the public embarrassment when he got caught!

My prayers are with his daughter and the wife's family!

I won't dignify the "sex scandal" comment, but we are anxious to know what triggered such an act by a well respected man like Terry Greer. Right now all I can think is total mental breakdown.

I bet the "flock" thought the same thing about the other man that was just arrested, "well respected".....They all are until they get caught! As stated above in one of the comments, "we are all human", well some are sick humans... Here we go again using mental illness as an excuse!
