FORT PAYNE (AP) — A former state senator is recovering from a broken neck after falling from a tractor in northeast Alabama.
The Times-Journal of Fort Payne reports that Lowell Barron of Fyffe fell from a tractor Saturday afternoon.
Barron was riding the tractor at a Fort Payne apartment complex when a tire went flat and he toppled over. He says he likely ran over a bottle or a piece of metal.
Barron fell into a ravine and says he broke his neck in multiple areas.
Barron was a Democratic chairman of the powerful Senate Rules Committee. He is now wearing a neck brace and will likely make a full recovery.
