Gun bill is nothing but raw politics
The state Senate passed its latest gun legislation because this is an election year and National Rifle Association members wanted this bill.
That was the reason Democratic Sen. Roger Bedford of …

whatever it takes to follow the constitution. Does the DD know of the right to bear arms. the constitution does not end at the company door!
I am in agreement with this bill. An armed citizen is more readily able to protect their self. People have got to start realizing that the criminals in this world are going to have their weapons when and where they want, law abiding citizens don't always have a police officer standing around to protect them from the scum that inhabits this world. I would rather have a fighting chance at protecting myself than beconing a statistic without a chance.
A good bill. It's not the law abiding citizens that you have to worry about. It's the sick thugs, that may NOW have some problems with some good law-abiding citizens.
Agree with above comments, it's a sad state of our society, but knowing that there are guns out there, in homes and cars, will deter some criminals and crazys.
If the writer of this editorial really believes what they have written, then why don't you place a sign in front of the DD that reads "GUN FREE ZONE. NO WEAPONS IN OR NEAR THIS FACITILTY."
My commute consits, 85% of the time, of traveling to work first then running errands afterwards. I can't carry a firearm in my car to work, so I don't have it with me when I run those errands after work. I have a permit and am a law abiding citizen. This bill allows me to protect myself, the way everyone should be able to, at all times, regardless of what my employers' politics try to regulate.
who would have guessed the DD would be against this bill?
In WW2, the Japanese would not invade the US because they knew most were armed.
Remember the old saying, "IT'S BETTER TO HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT, THAN TO NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT".
Why doesn't the DD and those opposed to this understand that this will not cause or create gun owners to suddenly start having shout outs in the parking lot of their employers. The "idiots" that carry out these senseless crimes do it no matter what the law is. It is an old cliche' but it rings very true, "outlaw guns and only the outlaws will have guns". David W.
If a Republican had sponsored the bill would this editorial have appeared??
We don't seem to hear this sort of rhetoric when Bob Riley's henchmen raid a bingo hall do we? I went to Tennessee yesterday and stopped in a Dollar General Market and guess what???? They sold beer and had a machine whcih dispensed about 50-60 different types of Lotto tickets. Nope, he place wasn't full of derelicts or the downtrodden, just plain old folks like you see at the ones here.
Remember, I said Dollar General, not WalMart.
The store had the usual fare as well, which is what I went in there for(I had bought my beer and Lotto tickets down the road because I didn't know DG had this available), but others were using the machine and buying the beer.
Somehow, I just cannot envision that here in Alabama.
When the Constitution was written there wasn't a Nucor or an Alabama Power; the language was intended (in my opinion) to simply permit citizens to have the right to keep and bear arms in order to defend our country. We have that right, except where ultra conservatives have removed it for shoving your wife (or being accused of it) or being caught up in some other infraction in the conservative person's little world. It seems to me that there is a law against damn near everything these days.
I can't carry my prescription drugs mixed in one bottle because I might be stopped and that is illegal for me to do.
I wonder how many little old men and ladies would be arrested and sent to prison for using the daily dose pill holders if this law was equally enforced against them like it is against Pedro or Shonzelle or Jodie ? Hell, it's no wonder they are having to build new prison facilities, you don't have to do a whole lot these days to get sent there. Conservatives always believe that if they pass a law, all the morons will abide by it and they will be safe in their little world to frolic and have mint juleps. Most conservatives have never ventured anywhere near reality; that is what their problem is.
In order to understand the way things are today, you have to get out where the real America is. It is not in the boardroom or at the country club. Gangs are taking over in some 280 of our cities and we are doing very little about it. We prefer to harass so-called illegal aliens who are chasing chickens or doing roofing work. These folks aren't the ones causing all the major problems.
Please, please, please.....don't respond with some BS about a Mexican being arrested for drunk driving or killing a goat; I don't want to hear it. Half or more of the people arrested here haven't done anything except be at the wrong place at the wrong time in Decatur. If you don't believe that, check with Daniel Wade Moore. Come on out of the blue blood closet and get a life and do something to help improve our area, this place is getting beyond help!!! You can complain all you want but you might as well face it, minority populations are on the rise and you will soon be a minority. You need to "buddy up" with these folks because they will be running this place pretty soon! You doubt that....look at Miami, Atlanta, Birmingham, El Paso.
Have a nice day and remember to take a Spanish class or two in your spare time.
Am I to assume that the company can say, if you have a gun you won't have a job? That sounds fair and balanced. What do police say?
Bubba says draw mister you looks offend me and that violates my freedom of looking
Hey Jim, put a little thought into your post in the future. Not being critical, just take a little time to think about what you want to say and then type it. I think you have fired off a post and you have jumped around and rambled until it is confusing and hard to follow. I think you have some points to get across but no one will get them because of the way it is written.
hey bubba......my firing range drill instructor gave all of us a rock, at the end of the training....his quote was "keep this s. o. b. in your pocket, because if you ever forget how to shoot, you will not be unarmed".
Myth you have never been on a range firing or not firing. It was not a rock but a BB in a match box. Get a grip and draw.
Bubba says shake your match box
I THINK IF YOU IDOTS WOULD READ THE LAW IT DOESNT APPLY TO NUCOR BECAUSE I WOULD BET NUCOES PARKING LOT IS NOT PUBLIC OR ACCESSABLE BY THE PUBLIC W/O LGEAL NEED==AND YES THE DD NEEDS TO EXPLAIN ALL THE BEHIND CLOSED DOORD CRAP BY REID AND PELOSI IF THE WANNA BITCH ABOUT THE NRA===BUT YOU WONT SEE ANYTHING ABOUT THOSE QUEER PEOPLE, IN THE DD.
WONDER WHAT THE WRITER OF THIS STORY WILL HAVE TO SAY WHEN A GUN WOULD HAVE PROTECTED HIS MOTHER=WIFE=DAUGHTER FROM BEING ABDUCTED--RAPED--KILLED. GUN IN THEIR CAR WOULD LOOK PRETTY GOOD THEN HUH
RIGHT ON DWIGHT AND I FEEL ITS JUST A SHORT TIME WHERE OPEN CARRY WHICH IS LEGAL IN SOME AREAS WILL BE THE NORM. MORE WOMEN ARE BUYING WEAPONS AND BECOMING FAMILIAR WITH THEM.
