Hartselle splits two games with Russellville
From staff reports

A.J. Owens walked to bring home Blake Slayton with the winning run 8-7 in the first game of a doubleheader split with Russellville in high school baseball action Wednesday.


After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning, Hartselle scored four in the bottom of the first.


A run-scoring double by Brett Blackwood, an RBI-single by Chris Brown and then a two-run double from Zane Hamlett put the home-standing Tigers ahead.
Easton Chenault and Brown each had a pair of hits for Hartselle.


Slayton added three stolen bases and three runs scored.

 

Levi Tapscott got the win, giving up a single and no runs in 2 1/3 innings.


In Game 2, Russellville scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to get past Hartselle 7-5.


Blackwood singled four times, drove in a pair of runs, scored a run and stole a base for the losing Tigers.


Owens had a pair of singles and stolen base for Hartselle. Tanner Oakes had a hit, a walk and scored a run in the loss.


West Morgan 6, Hatton 4: Michael Walker, Austin Waldrep and Reid Harrison each had two hits and an RBI in the loss Tuesday at West Morgan.


Reed Gillespie, Nicolas Farley and Jarred Travnicek also recorded one hit each for the Hornets.
Hatton (3-8) hosts Danville in a doubleheader today.


Softball
Athens Bible 15, R.A. Hubbard 0:
Megan Davidson threw a no-hitter, striking out nine in the home win Tuesday.
Hollie Guthrie hit two home runs, while Meredith Guthrie hit a double and Anna Stinnett finished with a single and a double.


The Class 2A No. 9 Trojans (6-3) visit Tanner on Monday.
Athens Bible 18, Paint Rock 3: Anna Price got the pitching win and added a single in the win at home Tuesday.


Lydia Elrod and Carson Fielder each finished with a single for ABS.
