Hartselle sweeps Decatur

Chris Brown and Tyler Phillips hit back-to-back homers as Hartselle High topped Decatur 15-0 Wednesday in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Hartselle won the nightcap 11-1. Tillman Landers got the pitching win for Hartselle (7-2), striking out one while giving up one hit in two innings.

Brown led Hartselle at the plate with a three-run homer, and Phillips followed with a solo homer. Easton Chenault, Aaron Lamb, Brett Blackwood and Daniel Conley had two hits each for Hartselle.

William Woller and Seth McAnear had one hit each for Decatur (2-3).

Hartselle 11, Decatur 1: Dakota Fowler got the pitching win for Hartselle, striking out two in two innings.

Deacon Aldridge led Hartselle at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double. Blackwood added two hits for the Tigers, while Zane Hamlett added a single.

Brady Wallace and Levi Tapscott combined to give up one run in five innings.

East Limestone 13, Athens 6: East Limestone scored nine runs in the first three innings to win the Athens-East Limestone tournament title. Ben Rhodes and Hunter Waites both hit home runs for East Limestone (4-0), while Cameron Ashmore and Mark Boersma both had singles.

Boersma got the pitching win in relief, giving up one hit while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings.

Jordan George led Athens at the plate with a double and a single.

Softball

Good Hope 13, Priceville 0: Meagan Sterling pounded out two hits and three RBIs for Good Hope.

Buckhorn 6, Lawrence County 5: Whitney Woodard doubled twice, singled and knocked in three runs for the Red Devils (2-1-2).

Victoria Draper also had a pair of doubles. McKenzie Hill added a double.
