Carey Grace Peebles doubled twice and drove in two runs to lead Hatton past Colbert County 7-1 in a battle of unbeatens Monday.
Jami Hunter added three hits and one RBI for the Hornets (4-0), who were coming off a victory in their own invitational tournament this past weekend. Lexi Parker also had three hits, while Hillary Carpenter added a single and a double.
Hatton scored three runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and closed out the scoring with three runs in the sixth inning.
Carpenter earned her fourth win, allowing four hits. Boston Claborn chipped in with a double.
Colbert County (4-1) scored its run in the fourth inning on base hits by Anna Grace Owens, Bre Vandiver and Toya Sockwell.
Colbert Heights 16, Sheffield 0: Kelsey Robinette drove in eight runs with a double, triple and grand slam as Colbert Heights opened the season with a win.
Destinee Pratt, Tiffany Church, Kendra Saint and Courtney Mitchell each had two hits for the Wildcats. Marley Michael was the winning pitcher.
Wilson 0-4, Lauderdale County 1-3: Wilson and Lauderdale County split a pair of one-run games, with the Tigers taking in the opener behind the three-hit pitching of Haley Barclay.
Lauderdale County scored the game's only run in the second inning on Emma Covington's base hit. Brianna Terrell had two hits for Wilson (3-4).
Maria Mask got the win in the second game for Wilson, who scored a run via the tiebreaker in the eighth inning after tying it in the seventh inning on a base hit by Tiffany McIntyre after a double by Jennifer Schroeder.
Rebekah Whitt had two hits for Lauderdale County (1-1).
Waterloo 5, Lexington 2: Caragan Tribble's two-run double snapped a 2-all tie in the sixth inning as Waterloo (4-1) beat Lexington.
Robin Russell and Candice Gonzalez each had base hits for the Cougars. Abby Austin was the winning pitcher.
Bailey White led Lexington (1-1) with two doubles and one RBI.
Muscle Shoals 3, Central 0: Krymson Lashley allowed only a single by Abby Keener as Muscle Shoals beat Central.
Haley Willis had three hits and two RBI's for the Trojans (5-1), including a solo home run. Kara Rhodes had an RBI double while Carley Malone had two hits.
Baseball
Lauderdale County 10, Sheffield 8: Lauderdale County rallied from an 8-1 deficit in the fifth inning to beat Sheffield.
The Tigers scored once in the fifth and tallied eight runs in the sixth to take the lead. Hunter Haney's two-run double tied it and Caid Cornelius drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth.
Chris Tidwell got the win and Adam Berryhill pitched the seventh inning for the save.
Cornelius, Josh White, Nathanael McCafferty and John Trousdale each had two hits for the Tigers (1-10). Eric Yarbrough had three hits and Mitchell Lovell had two hits, including a two-run home run, for Sheffield.
Mars Hill 13, Lauderdale County 0: Thomas Burrows pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 and issuing one walk as the Panthers beat Lauderdale County.
Glenn Irby led the Panthers (7-3) at the plate with three doubles and five RBIs. J.T. Hudson added thee hits and Colby Smith homered and singled and drove in three runs.
Tharptown 14, Colbert County 3: Allen Bohannon had two hits and three RBIs as Tharptown beat Colbert County. Shawn Hines had three hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats (1-2) and Kelby Hallmark allowed two hits in four innings to get the win.
Colbert County 1, Central 0: Tyler Craft blanked Central on two hits, singles by Murphy Harrison and Cole Michael.
Craft walked three and struck out seven for the Indians (7-2).
Colbert County's only run scored on a walk, base hit by Nick Mercer and a passed ball. Peyton Stracener pitched four scoreless innings for Central, striking out eight.
Central 17, Tharptown 0: Jacob Gean pitched a two-hit shutout and Tyler Robb and Andrew Mace drove in four runs each for the Wildcats (8-3).
Robb had a double and triple, while Andrew Mace and Matthew Brown had two hits each.
Brooks 6-13, Phil Campbell 0-0: Five Brooks pitchers combined to allow only one hit in a doubleheader sweep of Phil Campbell.
Ryan Masonia and Garrett Brewer combined on a one-hitter in the first game, while Riley Phillips doubled twice and Skyler Beck had a double and a single.
Tanner Graham, Brady Bedingfield and Tay Johnson combined on a perfect game in the nightcap, striking out nine.
Drake Tucker's leadoff home run led the offense while Phillips added two hits.
Rogers 8, Wilson 4: Briley Reeves hit a three-run double and Caleb Morrow had two hits as Rogers beat Wilson.
Chase Urban got the win, allowing eight hits in the first game of a doubleheader.
Drew Barton had two hits for Wilson.
Rogers 5, Lexington 4: Reeves completed a big day with three hits and two RBIs as the Pirates notched their second win of the day. Alex Woodard added two hits in support of winning pitcher Colin Chamblin. Graham Herston earned the save.
Ryan Smith had two hits and two RBIs for Lexington. Ryan Mitchell added two hits.
Vina 11-3, Waterloo 0-1: Brody Roberts pitched a two-hitter and drove in four runs in the opener and Vina scored twice in the eighth inning to win the second game.
Roberts struck out eight in the five-inning first game and Brandon Cole added two hits as the Red Devils delivered the 200th win to coach Greg Hamilton.
The second game featured a pitchers' duel. Cody Renfrow got the win in relief. Drake Hester's RBI triple in the eighth inning produced the go-ahead run and Kyler Childers added an insurance run with an RBI single.
Braxton Wright got a no-decision despite striking out 15 and allowing one hit in seven inning for Waterloo.
Deshler 16-0, Madison Academy 2-10: Deshler split an odd doubleheader with Madison Academy, blowing out the Mustangs in the first game before getting blanked in the nightcap.
Justin Cantrell pitched a complete game five-hitter and had a double and three RBIs in the opener. Thomas Milstead had two doubles and five RBIs while Tucker Norwood and Taylor Gross had two hits each.
The second game was a completely different story, as Deshler's offense was shut down by Madison Academy pitcher Chad Key, who allowed just five hits and struck out seven in a complete-game effort. Cantrell had a double for Deshler (11-2).
Golf
Central 169, Mars Hill 180: Austin Gean grabbed medalist honors with a 39 as Central beat Mars Hill at Blackberry Trail. John Moody shot 42 for Mars Hill.
Deshler 182, Cherokee 266: Chris Birden, Dalton Wright and Christian Williams each shot 45 as Deshler beat Cherokee in a match at Tennessee Valley Country Club.
Muscle Shoals Red 164, Brooks 171, Muscle Shoals Black 200: Graham Davis shot 39 to lead Muscle Shoals Red to a seven-shot win over Brooks at Cypress Lakes. Alec Pennington and Austin Reid shot 41 for Muscle Shoals Red. Jordan Smith and Josh Sanderson each shot 41 for Brooks.
Muscle Shoals Red 143, Brooks 144 (girls): Brooks' Tori Smith shot 40 to claim medalist honors in a match at Cypress Lakes. For Muscle Shoals, Brooklyn Terry shot 43 and Brittany Collins shot 45. Taylor Daniel shot 52 for Muscle Shoals Black.
