HILLSBORO — A one-vehicle wreck in Hillsboro on Sunday killed a man and sent another to the hospital, authorities said.
Both victims are from Memphis, said Lawrence County Coroner Micah Coffey.
Coffey pronounced the driver, 33-year-old Mario Antonio Ortega-Rodriguez, dead at about 11 a.m.
Authorities hadn’t released the name of the other victim Sunday. Coffey said the passenger was air-lifted to Huntsville Hospital.
He said the truck the men were in was traveling east on Alabama 20 close to the intersection of David Temple Road when Ortega-Rodriguez lost control and hit a power pole.
Troopers said the wreck occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Alabama 20 about a half-mile east of Hillsboro.
