Face charges? Does he not have enough problems? A guy like this don't need to be in jail..he needs help!

Yes Face charges. Getting in trouble is what keeps others from thinking about attempting to break the law.

What if this idiot had caused a serious accident and lives were lost, he lived but other may have died. Dont you think that is illegal? If he didnt get in any trouble whats to stop others from attempting the same fate and causing even more to lose their lives?

He used an air rifle to attempt suicide, that tells me he wasnt serious about the attempt and he did it in a very public area. Sounds like he needs help behind bars and he can see a shrink when he gets out.

He also caused severe monetary damage. He needs help, but the rest of society doesn't need to suffer financial damage due to disarray in his life. Can you say, "Just walk away....."?

Heartless...

I think he should be held liable for the monetary damage but should not face charges. That would not solve anything. This guys is crying out for help without using words. How many of you have ever been in a place where you have gone through something that you aren't able to handle rationally? I guess not many because if you have, you could understand that this man wasn't thinking, he was just wanting the pain to end! I just hope that he is able to get the help that he so desperately needs and can move forward. Then pay for damages to property and for the clean up.

I would like to see what you bleeding hearts would say if this fool had run over and killed some of your loved ones while pulling this stunt.

"State troopers were not involved in the wreck because the agency doesn’t handle intentional wrecks, she said." Hmmmm.

Morgan County: the point is, he didn't kill or hurt anyone besides himself. Have you ever in your life felt pain like he probably was? I don't think so or you would have at least a small spark of compassion. Thank goodness he didn't hurt anyone else besides himself. Yes, if he had hurt or killed anyone besides himself; he should have to answer for that crime but he didn't and that is why he needs help, not some pre-judgement that some people can never understand unless they have been in a similar situation. And yes, I DO UNDERSTAND because years ago I also had been in a situation where all I wanted was for the pain to end. A person does not at that specific moment, see any way out of the pain except the ultimate choice. Thank goodness that I didn't succede in my attempt. I could see afterwards that it wasn't going to solve anything; just like I am sure this guys is feeling this at this point. I got the help I so desperately needed and I so hope that this guy can also get help. I just wish people would remember the old saying: WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES BEFORE YOU PASS JUDGEMENT.

State Troopers should be involved because he had a state issued DOT license. Comeone DAILY....you're quoting Franklin here. Don't you know to check your facts?
