Poor Billy. One day District 1 will find someone else to represent them who will help move them forward.
No Mr. Billy, we as a government are not suppose to help and serve our citizens...what a joke!
the developer should have paid for this. the city should have sued him for it. this city council is worthless.
Mr. Jackson will vote "NO" on everything that doesn't make him look good! This isn't all about him and what HE wants! This is a city problem and the city should deal with it! Yes there are other roads that need fixing but I've seen these pot-holes first hand, they are dangerous and if Mr. Jackson has an objection to this, well he needs to drive through that neighborhood at night and see just how much damage is done to his car! Get over yourself Billy!
Who cares what he thinks? If he wants to impress me, he'd resign!
Mr. Jackson is aspiring to be the next Richard Showers.
I grew up in NW Huntsville, and believe it or not, it used to be a very nice place to live.
Richard Showers, the Huntsville Housing Authority, and Loretta Spencer ruined NW Huntsville with Section 8 rental vouchers. Richard Showers needed the welfare folks' votes to stay in office, the HHA needed to spread the welfare deadbeats around so they could get more federal funding (and keep their jobs with their ridiculous salaries), and Loretta Spencer wanted to move all the black folks to NW Huntsville. Mission accomplished.
And as far as the potholes are concerned -- it was the developer's responsibility to lay the final topcoat, but the city signed off on final approval of the subdivision before it was done. Since the subdivision is within the city limits, and the developer has lost their letter of credit, it falls to the CITY to make the repairs on CITY streets -- they can sue the developer for reimbursement, but good luck with that. The HOA has ALREADY paid for the final topcoat -- they all paid for it as part of the purchase price of their homes. It is not considered to be maintenance fees; the final topcoat is part of the original subdivision master plan that was submitted to the City for approval. The City of Decatur dropped the ball on this one.
During the housing boom, lots of developers (and city building inspectors) cut a lot of corners, and a lot of subdivisions got approved on contingency (that subsequently never got followed up on). If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at the inspector that signed off on the final approval for the subdivision.
Billy voted NO on something . . . . Imagine that.
Becky is racist.
No, Billy Boy, I am not racist. I judge people on the content of their character. When you give people something for nothing, the least you can do is expect them to take care of it, and try to make it a safe place to live. I think it's racist to expect somebody to vote for you because they are the same color as you. I think it's racist to overlook thug behavior instead of expecting more from your constituents. You must think that they are not capable of making their own decisions, or acting like civilized human beings. What does that say about you? Look in your own backyard, Billy.
