Alabama's Constitution does nothing but hold the state back. It needs to be rewritten! Ron Sparks 2010!!!
I was born and raised in Alabama and have since lived in several states. I moved back here because it is the greatest state in the union in my view. Alabama's Constitution is not perfect but how can anyone say it is "holding the state back"? How is it holding us back? Alabama can do anything it pleases for our people. Rewriting a constitution is a serious matter. The 1902 framers were not totally pure in all their intentions but what (other than naivete) makes anyone think new framers in 2009 would be any better? "Change" could make you worse off could it not? Recent events should speak volumes to this concept. Rewriting the Alabama Constitution would result in higher taxes, more government intrusion in our lives and more power for trial lawyers.
Roy Moore (or Tim James) 2010!!!
Mr. James: How quickly you expect the voters to forget that the federal bailouts began with the Bush administration and that the economy went into the tank because Republicans at the SEC and the Fed failed in their responsibility to regulate.
It'll be interesting to watch you and Roy Moore on the stump!
I will post this again, since it obviously was taken off the comment section for some reason. I know very little about what our previous governors did before they got elected to office, but it concerns me that Mr. James has no political or legal background. I understand that he has managed businesses, but is that really a foundation for guiding a state? His degree is in finance, which would probably benefit our economy right now...I am giving him the benefit of doubt right now, but what about legal education? I fear that he is "riding the coattails" of his daddy and hoping that Fob supporters will back him just because of familial relations. I urge the Alabama citizens to really do your research for the upcoming election. Let's try to pick a GREAT govorner this time around!
Well, here we go again! As to "JOE" from Town Creek, if you look at the folks who are working on the mock constitutional , you can see that it would be impossible to rewrite an important document without vast errors. Just look at the person who is representing you, They have not removed the blinders long enough to adjust to the light and the reqirements of the 21st century. As to "R", if you think best results come from polished politicians, I've got some land to sell you ( Geat VIEW). So worried about legal education and can't spell "governor".
If we need changes to the constitution, let the Democrats know you don't approve of them adding language to the amendments for special interest groups. Let the changes stand alone, be voted on alone, without AEA and Mr Paul's thumbprints being smeared all along the edges.
