ATHENS — Joel Whittinghill of Bowling Green, Ky., took the title of Fiddle Champion on Saturday night at the 46th annual Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention at Athens State University.
Whittinghill, winner of the convention's junior fiddle division, won the night's fiddle off with senior division champ Carl Franklin of Hendersonville, Tenn. Franklin finished overall runner-up.
Whittinghill takes home the convention's top prize of $1,000. Other winners were:
