Lawrence County High’s boys and girls cross country teams both took first place Saturday at the Daphne Invitational.
Bayside Academy finished second in the girls meet, while Baker took second in the boys meet.
Lexie Burfield led the Lawrence County girls, finishing second with a 20:55. Durranna Thomas took third at 20:57, while Shelton Givens finished fifth with a 21:33. Laura Bennett and CaSandra Miner finished ninth and 10th, respectively.
For the boys, Justus Montgomery finished second overall with a 17:23, and Caleb Lipsey took fourth with a 17:55. Freddie Shirah finished fifth with a 17:57, while Luke Hopper and Brandon Landreth finished 12th and 14th, respectively.
Falkville wins tournament: The Lady Blue Devils swept Columbia 3-0 in the championship match to win the St. Bernard Invitational.
In five tournament matches, Elizabeth Davis led Falkville with 38 kills, 18 digs and eight blocks. Tiana Drinkard added 20 kills, 12 digs and three blocks, while Amanda Muse had 14 kills and 31 digs.
Patrica Kilgore finished with 42 digs, while Loren White had 11 kills and 10 digs.
Amber Riddle led Falkville with 82 assists on the tournament. She also had 18 aces.
