Fredricks Equipment on Bethel Road in Priceville will host The Charlie Daniels Band Saturday, April 27 for their Spring Outdoor Concert Series at “The Farm.” Country music artist Ryan Couron will open the show. Tickets are $30 per person at the gate.

One may not associate selling tractors and boats with hosting big-name county music events with the likes of country music legend Charlie Daniels. However, Tom Fredricks makes it his business to bring all aspects of “country life” together.

Fredricks, owner of Fredricks Equipment located within eyesight of I-65 in Priceville, is proud to announce his business will host their Outdoor Concert Series at “The Farm” opening with country artist Ryan Couron, and headlining with The Charlie Daniels Band. The event will be held Saturday, April 27 at Fredricks Equipment.

Fredricks Equipment is not the typical tractor sales showroom, but more along the lines of a theme park, Fredricks said.

“The idea here is to turn the whole facility into a destination location,” he said.

Fredricks founded the business on Bethel Road in Hartselle in 1996, and then expanded with a second facility on Bethel Road in Priceville two years ago. The older facility now serves as the cooperate office.

The newer large three story facility sits on several acres of land with a pond. The farm-vibe design is eye-catching. The first floor is the showroom and retail area, the second floor is currently a seating and conference area complete with wooden tables and floors, and the third floor is in progress.

They have aspirations for a restaurant on the second floor and eventually a large entertainment room on the third, to include a DJ booth and outdoor patio area, Fredricks said.

The flooring on the second level of the building was fashioned out of wood from the old Hartselle Christian Church which burnt years ago. Fredricks reworked the lumber from the church into a handsome rustic floor, keeping the unique coloration left on the wood by the fire.

A white Great Pyrenees named Doc greets visitors at the large front doors of the showroom. Doc, whose brother Wyatt is buried at “Boot Hill” on the property, is joined by two new white Great Pyrenees pups named Morgan and Virgil, who also have the run of the place.

The dogs’ three counterparts, Mattie, Louisa, and Allie keep the grounds at the cooperate headquarters down the road.

The dogs, the wood from the church, the pond, the tractors, the boats, and Boot Hill are all part of the “character of the theme park,” Fredricks said.

The Charlie Daniels Band concert will be the sixth event in their Outdoor Concert Series at The Farm, General Manager C. Coe Gwathney III said.

The Concert series is usually held twice a year, in April and in October, he said.

Past performers have included Rhett Akins, Justin Moore, Heidi Newfield of Trick Pony, Randy Houser, and Chris Cagle.

Ryan Couron, will open this April’s show. This will be his second time two play at The Farm, Gwathney said.

Fredricks and Gwathney were introduced to Couron through events with one of their major vendors, Bad Boy Motors. They implored The Charlie Daniels Band to play through their advertising firm, the William Morris Agency in Nashville. This will be the first time Charlie Daniels has played at Fredricks.

“Charlie Daniels is just a good fit for this venue,” Fredricks said. “We like Charlie Daniels and we think he will draw our target audience.”

Tentatively, Ryan Couron will open at 6:30 p.m. with The Charlie Daniels Band starting at 8 p.m. Provided that the alcohol ordinance in Priceville is completed in April, this may also be one of the first major events in Priceville with beer sales. The event is expected to draw a crowd of around 2,000 to 3,000 concert goers, Fredricks said.

Tickets are $30 per person at the gate, with kids 10 year of age and under admitted free. Parking is $10 per vehicle.

“It’s an outdoor concert. Come on out and park in the field,” Fredricks said.
