Daneisha Malone dominated the lane, pouring in 20 points and blocking seven shots to send Clements High past Colbert County 52-29 on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class 3A, Area 15 tournament.
Clements advances to face tournament host Mars Hill on Thursday.
MaCall Gossett hit five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points for the Colts.
Klarissa Whalen led Colbert County with 12 points after connecting on a 3-pointer in each quarter.
East Limestone 48, Tanner 38: Rachel Diamond led the Indians with 10 points, helping East Limestone take the 31-17 lead at half before finding the win.
Jaylyn Johnson and Brennan Crabtree scored nine points each, while Bailey Speer scored eight.
For Tanner, Alliyah Fletcher scored 10 points with eight rebounds, while Kelsey Houston and Sydney Houston added eight points each.
Tanner 63, East Limestone 47: Jace Haggermaker recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, helping Tanner High top East Limestone in the regular season finale.
Tanner (21-4) scored 15 points in the first quarter, pushing to a 23-19 lead at half.
Greg Maclin led all scorers with 16 points and nine rebounds. For East Limestone, Jordon Gandy scored nine points with five rebounds.
Lauderdale County 45, Clements 37: After building a double-digit lead, Lauderdale County held off a fourth-quarter rally by Clements to claim a win in the opening round of the Class 3A, Area 16 Tournament.
The Tigers advance to meet host Mars Hill Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Drew Newton led the Tigers with 13 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. Nathanael McCafferty added 12 points while Daniel Tiede scored nine of his 11 points in the second half.
Clements was led by Seth Hamilton’s 13 points.
Calhoun 5-7, Motlow 2-2: Calhoun topped Motlow in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. In the first game, Trey Nelson hit a single with two strike-outs, while Josh Hagerman pitched 5 2/3, allowing six hits and two errors with two strikeouts and two walks. In the second game, Garrett Walters had one run, two singles and one RBI. Jake Nelson allowed five singles, two errors, six hits with three strikeouts.
