Kyle seems to have grown since his less than stellar first term. Of course, a monkey could do better than Standford. But, we have high hopes and wish him the best in dealing with the limited minds on the City Council. Would have been interesting to have a real reporter interview him, but this is the DECATUR DELAY

Stanford got much accomplished. He did a lot of things Kyle only talked about. Did you people catch all that double talk? He wants a school millage property tax. But he is against raising taxes. Parks and Rec gets exactly what it wants everytime. If you think it has a limited amount of funds start paying for your meals out there at Pt Mallard Kyle. We have tight funds but he wants a new sports complex and new schools but we don't have money for it. So basically his big idea for Decatur to flourish is to use Google. Maybe he should talk to Charles Kirby because Kyle says we aren't going to give up on Decatur's population growing but Kirby says every projection shows it stagnant or reducing. And I didn't hear a word about NW Decatur in any of that. Kyle's term is already almost 1/16 over and nothing has happened. How long does it take to read a budget? And why is he reading it so much? Didn't the council do the budget in October or November? He isn't going to change it so just get over it Kyle. And how do you not at least have an opinion on the high school issue? Such a politician.

William, I take exception to your remark about Park and Rec. getting "exactly what it wants everytime". There is probably no other department that brings in the revenue, or tourists, that Park & Rec. does, relative to the funds allocated. Tourism=money. Whether it is a soccer tournament, swimmers at the Wave Pool, or campers, they all spend money in Decatur. A large soccer tournament can fill up every motel room in town, and those people eat out and purchase goods & services. No, it's not manufacturing jobs, which we need, but given the global economy, Park & Rec is doing a great job.

I didn't say it wasn't important. I said they get whatever they want. A Lazy River when we have a budget crisis? Dunlap gets his way a lot. Tourism is important but not at the risk of basic city services. It is why Stanford was the best choice for mayor. Kyle has no vision and is lazy and all Cole talked about was tourism and city manager. Stanford, at least with Wally Terry there, was going to make sure the city ran right.

Kyle will do fantastic. I got faith in his ability.

Let's not kid ourselves. Stanford was lost. Why do you think he hired Wally Terry within a year after being elected. The only positive accomplishment Stanford made during his term was bringing Wally Terry on board, anything else was ALL Wally Terry.

William makes many good points. And Tony is EXACTLY correct - almost. Wally Terry was the only positive accomplishment during last term, but, Standford didn't hire him; the Council did - in order to save the city FROM Standford. Carolyn obviously slept from 2004-2008 and missed that Kyle didn't accomplish very much during that time. Mike, you are also correct in your comments about the Parks Dept.

We doubt Kyle will ever state a position on the school issue. He'll probably just float down the lazy river until someone else makes the decision. Kinda like before.

That is my point Jerry. Kyle is not a leader. He is just collecting a paycheck. Stanford had faults but he was not afraid to make a decision. He made changes at city hall and got rid of people that Kyle did not and everyone thought they needed to go.
