Big bobs would be fine if they served the same quality to the customers as they do at competitions

As a Bar B Q Lover,Thanks for the List..I will drive out of Decatur and try some of these ..

But its hard to beat Bob Gipson's Combination Plates,Stuffed Potatoes, and Pies.

Is Dirt Road still in business?

I've tried a number of these restaurants, and had pretty good "que" at most of them. But I haven't found better pulled pork, ribs or brisket than what comes out of our smoker. It's a lot of work sometimes, but when ya gotta have it, ya gotta have it!

I like most of these places okay. Like Denise, I prefer meat pulled straight from my smoker over any of them. There is just something about that fresh juicy taste right of the smoker that even the best BBQ joints find difficult to replicate. The chemistry of BBQ just prevents meat pulled from a smoker earlier in the day being as tasty as meat pulled more recently.

@ Sunnidayz

I could not agree more I've had friends from Mich. Utah, And Nevada visit and they say they want to try Bob Gibsons and I tell them they are not going to get what is winning these competitions. So we go and they tell me they have had better at their home town dives.

As for the picture on this story could the Daily not find something that's not burned and don't say that it's carmelized becaused this piece of meat has been creamated!

What about Hickory Pit on GordonTerry pkw. I didn't see on list.

Big Bob's just isn't really good anymore. They used to be awesome. but now it just tastes "mass produced" with no flavor.

Dirt Road on the Beltline went out of Business. I think it still might be open in Trinity.

.

Why do they have one Grennbriar BBQ listed but not the other? There are two. The other ones is about 2-3 miles down the road at the old Greenbriar intersection.

CHIEF AND SNOOGIES IS THE BOMB Best in North Alabama

Dallas E, Hickory Pit is now Chief and Snoogies and Bob, neither location of Dirt Road BBQ is open anymore.

I have tried a lot of BBQ in my time, so I was pleasantly surprised by 306 in Athens last week. They have a good lunch menu and their ribs were good. I'll go back.

Dallas, the Hickory Pit on Gordon Terry is called Chief and Snoogie's. They changed ownership a couple of years back. They have the best BBQ around.

Chief and Snoogies is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! John's in Moulton is not so much.....no flavor. Cute place though.
