I see Pat Fowler got into it before Stanford left office.
I question the $100K that is being sent to the e-center. While the Executive Director, Mr. Larry Waye, is a nice man, is good for our community and has surrounded himself with a strong board, questions remain about the e-center's ability to achieve it's mission, without straying away from that mission to appear busy. Once Polyplex is gone, I don't know if I see the value of the e-center for some of the suckling tenants that it houses. Waye is to be commended on his ability to gain support with city leaders, but the bottom line remains show me the money. Take Polyplex out of the equation in Q2 2013, which will happen, and show citizens the short and long term return on the investment, with all things considered. Finally, explain the weaning process. The center should not stand in the way of local landlords ability to rent and lease properties at standard market rates or unstated period of time. The old model of the e-center was much like an incubator. If a baby can't mature over time, it might be to weak to survive on the open market. Should the citizens bear the responsibility of continous care for a business that cannot stand on by itself over a stated period of time? I think not.
Why are they paying way more than appraisal price for the railroad depot? This is NOT financial responsibility. This IS however a clear demonstration of a few individuals ramming their will down Decatur's throat.
