If people would slow down, get off their cell phones, quit primping in the mirror, pay attention and drive like responsible adults we would not have traffic problems.

Sounds like something the government would do. Maybe Obama will give us some money. That's why we voted for him right? Anyway, instead of an expensive system why not think like the high-tech corridor we are setup local traffic tweets to which anyone with Twitter or Facebook on their phone can subscribe? A local TV or radio station would probably be glad to run it as they already have traffic alerts on the radio. The tweets, just like the radio broadcasts are free to the people and they cost us no tax dollars. I listen on my way from Huntsville every week-day morning and afternoon and have avoided several tie-ups. It wouldn't alert everyone but it would help alert and divert enough people that the traffic jam would likely be far less severe. Its very low cost or essentially free.

FC . . although I agree with you, your idea will never work . . . it just clearly makes way to much damn sense.

Twitter or Facebook on their cell phone, while their driving? That's what we need, more people using their da*n cell phones while on the roads. I bet the person that patents a hand held device to zap a cell phone signal of someone driving close to them will become very wealthy.

Wouldn't some flashing lights ion an "Icy Conditions" warning sigh during freezing weather do the same thing? It sure wouldn't require 24 hour personnel attention. Of ALL the things that money could have been spent on.....

Oh well...maybe it gives 3 people a job. ::sigh::
