What fool doesn't know a 2 lane Hwy 36 cannot handle the kind of traffic that a High School would generate at the interstate.
Their is not enough room to 4 lane it without houses on Hwy 36 being bought and removed. Get ready to have your homes taken.
There is not enough room or potential for traffic on the Bethel Road site, but there is room across the Interstate on that little patch of land? Hmmmm.
Little patch of land? Four-lane Hwy 36? Mr. Cain has a lot of acreage on his farm. I would guess there might be another way to the school besides Hwy 36. Even so, the state and feds have already funded the engineering of Phase II of the Northern By-pass. That section is from I-65 to about Roan Rd. This has been in the works for years, had public hearings, and the residents have received notice from ALDOT.
hartselle doesnt need a new high school
Hartselle DOES need a new high school. The city simply must find a way to make it happen. You could always move to Decatur where it is is wet, and no new schools are being built. I'm sure the people of Hartselle wouldn't mindif you left.
I would love to hear the rationale behind "Hartselle doesn't need a new high school". The school system in Hartselle is what the town is about. Hartselle is a "bedroom" community that lives and breathes off thousands of parents commuting to work. It needs to cater to those people or decide not to and become just another ho-hum town on the way to Nashville or Birmingham. I'm proud to tell people I graduated from Hartselle and would like to keep it that way.
Mr Thompson wants to raise taxes by 1%. This would be about 120 Dollars a year for a family on minimun wage. Should this family give up a car payment, electric bill,a couple weeks of groceries, clothing for thir children or medical insurance. Some ideas are just plain stupid, please think before you act.
I think that the people should vote on it instead of the city counceil decided on it, and doing it like they did it in Decatur,, Hartselle should go wet, that way everyone would not have to pay for it, .just the people that drink.
If Hartselle would quit recuiting for sports there would be plenty of room at the school they are at
