And this will stop a crazed killer wanting to shoot up a school how?

If a law abiding citizen is carrying on a campus when a "crazed killer" starts shooting there is at least a chance that the "crazed killer" will be put down before any innocents loose their lives. For sure a law abiding citizen could stop a "crazed killer" before he is finished with his rampage. Blocking law abiding citizens from carrying anywhere creates a duck shoot for anyone intent on carrying out a mass killing. Gun free zones need to be done away with in our state. The gun is not the problem, the "crazed killer" is. I have LEGALLY concealed carry for 20+ years and my guns have never hurt a soul. A CRIMINAL intent on hurting others doesn't care about laws and will find a way to hurt others no matter what laws are on the books.

I am not a second class citizen behind the LEO's that are hired with our tax dollars. If the LEO's are allowed to carry anywhere they please, law abiding citizens should be afforded the same right. A badge does not equal extra rights.

Everyone needs to be responsible for their own safety. When seconds count police are minutes away.

the entrance change better be armored and bullet proof , or they will shoot their way in like the Idiot that did the last shooting did , makes much more sense to have armed protection at hand than wait for who knows how long for officers to get there.

One armed person such as the principal at the last tragedy could have stopped that on the spot , she was brave enough to charge him unarmed she could have stopped him if you did not have stupid laws to prevent law abiding citizens from carrying a weapon to protect them self and people around them lots of shootings have been stopped exactly that way but you never see them in the news , the media does not glamorize someone saving lives , they want blood and gore to make more loonies go out and do it to be in the news. I have grown up as many of my friends and other family members have with weapons for protection, they are useful and safe in law abiding citizens hands. When they take them from legal registered carry citizens there will be the biggest surge in crime you have seen in your lifetime if you live to see it. Armed teachers and more SRO officers make good sense and better entry and egress protection in the schools would be something to really scrutinize , if they can not make entry then they can do no harm , and be neutralized before something bad happens , but it will take actual weapons and people willing to use them , not cowering and running as they get shot

Rebecca nailed it. Crazed killers do not obey any laws. It is why they are called killers. The reason they pick schools is because our Nation goes out of its way to publicize the fact that nobody in a school has a gun and everyone inside is sitting ducks. You don't see them storming a military base or police station to carry out their agenda.

I guess they are going to just point with their finger and say "Bang"?!! That makes a lot of sense...sounds like something the "highly educated" Board of Ed. came up with, doesn't it? Reminds me of a verse in the Bible, "...much learning doth make thee mad." (Acts 26:24)

Tony is spot on. Also, there is no "loophole" in the law. It was intentionally written that way so that law abiding citizens could carry on campus. Otherwise those law abiding conceal carry permit holders would not be able to even have their protection with them in their own cars when taking and picking up their children from school. There are teachers that have carry permits, but State and local BOE policy would get them fired for even just leaving their guns in their own vehicles. So, as a teacher, you either have to go without protection between school and home or just take a chance on losing your job because you kept your gun in your vehicle.

To say that "loophole" needs to be fixed is an ignorant statement. Do you really thing somebody that has a gun on them with intent to harm at the school is going to be stopped by a change in the wording?

It amazes me that the school officials are "surprised" at this information. Why in the name of God would you accept a position, either as a hired employee or as an elected official and NOT study everything you can about the schools? There is no loophole. Both the Federal Gun-Free School Zone Act of 1990 (1995) and the State laws on firearms at schools 13A-11-72(c) thru (g) allow for guns on campus with a concealed pistol license. That certainly doesn't SOUND like a loophole. The board of education has "policies", which are not laws and are not enforceable
