With all this decissions made, is Decatur Morgan Hospital owned by Huntsville Hospital, or is it still a independent Hospital.

Parkway was purchased by Huntsville Hospital. Somebody please tell us as we have to make plans when we get sick were to go. Decatur daily you have an opertunity to inform the residence of Morgan County were they may go to get the best tratment for their illnesses. So is Decatur Morgan Hospital owned by Huntsville or is it still a independent Hospital with powwer to make its own decissions ???

Read the story "The consolidation comes three months after Decatur General and Parkway Medical Center merged and became part of the Huntsville Hospital system. One of the things the merger was designed to do was eliminate redundancy." It's all there in black and white.

My understanding is that all "Decatur General" assets are leased to Hunstville Hospital. So Huntsville Hospital, runs the program whether they own it or not! Based on past deficits, may not be totally bad. LOOK FOR MORE CHANGES TO COME THOUGH. Some won't be so good!

Either Decatur General or Parkway needs to be Tier 1 rated emergency room so a patient doesn't have to be flown to Hunstville Hospital. Let's keep it here; we can do better in this area.

If you just go read what healthcare experts are saying, you will find out that when Obamacare goes into full effect, it will be even harder for private and independent hospitals to survive. You will start seeing more and more of these mergers because regional conglomerate hospital systems will be the only way to survive.

We always enjoyed Parkway's services when they were a private hospital. I know many people, including myself, that picked Parkway's labor and delivery over Decatur General because they care and private rooms were much better. I think it is bad move to pull the labor and delivery services from Parkway. We are actually now considering going over to Crestwood for our next child.
