He is, by most accounts, a decent fellow. Problem was, he was in over his head. His poor choice of assistants led to his downfall. Most AU fans should now be waking up to the fact it takes more than being a "family" man to be successful in D-1 football. This next hire could determine the fate of the Auburn program for the next decade (or two).
In this era of 25 limit scholarships, its much easier to come back that it use to be. I do agree, this needs to be a good hire, or Auburn will be like Alabama was 7 years ago and Tennessee is now.
i bet after a run like this, especially this season, auburn trustees and the Athletic director would sign the devil himself if he could promise wins, 'family man' or not.
